They’re lowering the steaks.
An Illinois man has accused the Texas Roadhouse of repeatedly serving him a lower-caliber cut than what he’d ordered — despite charging the same amount.
“Texas Roadhouse, shame on you,” Kenneth Card said while airing his beef in a viral TikTok video.
A dedicated TR customer, the prime rib papa had been going to his local outlet in Forsyth for over a year and had even befriended some of the employees, Fox News reported.
So he was understandably surprised when he ordered the $30 melt-in-your-mouth filet mignon, only to receive lower-grade $20 sirloin instead.
Card subsequently alerted the staff to the mis-steak.
“I say ‘excuse me,’ I think I got the wrong steak,” recalled the displeased patron, adding that he recognized the different cuts of beef, having handled it extensively while working in restaurant and hotel kitchens.
“I know what types of meat I get whenever I receive it,” Card declared.
The employee subsequently took the cut back to the kitchen, where they confirmed the mix-up.
At that point, Card flagged the manager as this wasn’t the first time they’d failed to meat his expectations.
“I said, ‘hey listen,’ this is the third time that I’ve came [sic] and I’ve gotten a sirloin for my 8 oz filet,” Card recounted.
Despite his outcry, he said the manager looked at him like they thought he was “stupid or crazy” and claimed the blunder was impossible as every cut is inspected by a person in the back.
When he asked about this particular goof, she didn’t have an answer, Card recalled.
“Y’all be careful about what you order and what you pay for,” he warned.
A Texas Roadhouse rep told Fox that they’d “not been able to track that this occurred on three occasions,” but confirmed the mistake in question and added that management “quickly made it right.”
Nonetheless, Card said he has sworn off the restaurant’s Forsyth location.
TikTok viewers were appalled over the bungled order, with some claiming they had similar experiences at that location.
“They did the exact same thing to me with my ribeye last time I was there,” recalled one disillusioned customer.
Another wrote, “Same thing happened to my husband…he refuses to go back.”
Some commenters even claimed that the Texas Roadhouse was serving cheaper cuts on purpose.
“I’ll be telling them I want a filet not a sirloin cuz ik yall be scamming,” said one aghast customer, while another wrote, “They were hoping you didn’t notice!”
“Common practice at that particular location. Profits,” declared a third.
