Here were NYC’s hottest looks, coolest trends and funkiest finds on display during NYFW

If New Yorkers have learned anything these past few weeks, it’s that the Big Apple’s most fashionable will never let freezing temperatures and piles of dirty snow stop them from looking their best — especially during NYFW Fall/Winter 2026, which officially wraps up today.

During one of NYC’s most fashionable (and frigid) times of the year, the attention is often on the runway designs, but this past week, it was the showgoers’ street style that stopped traffic and turned heads.

While heading in and out of shows like Coach, Alice & Olivia and Altuzarra throughout Manhattan all week, fashion’s finest braved the cold and treated the slush-filled sidewalks like their runway, posing for cameras in everything from cozy fur jackets to effortless balloon pants and Jackie O-inspired pillbox hats.

The Post rounded up some of the most stylish show attendees who are putting their stamp on 2026’s hottest fashion trends.

Furry and fabulous

Nothing screams winter in NYC quite like a giant faux-fur coat, and these fashionistas took things up a notch by adding in chic matching accessories like hats, head scarves and belts.

Fashion model Katya Tolstova was spotted outside the Altuzarra show wearing an animal-print fur coat with a matching hat. She added eye-popping red leggings, which she coordinated with a Chanel bag in a similar shade. Getty Images
Outside the Coach show, The Cut’s editor-in-Chief Lindsay Peoples Wagner wore a stylish faux fur coat, paired with a matching black top, jeans and a belt. She accessorized with tan boots and an animal-print purse. Getty Images
Journalist and influencer Darya Sizina was spotted wearing a cream coat, taupe pants, a brown faux fur belt, a brown handbag and a faux fur hat outside the Alice & Olivia presentation. Getty Images

Blogger and fashion designer Aimee Song was spotted wearing a white faux fur coat, cream sweater, black pants, a black clutch and black sunglasses outside the Ashlyn show. Getty Images
A stylish guest was seen wearing a dark brown faux fur coat, a brown Carolina Herrera sweater, paired with cream lace shorts and a camel-colored bag with light blue gloves and brown sunglasses to attend the Carolina Herrera show. Getty Images

A Jackie Kennedy-esque accessory

NYFW showgoers swapped their beanies and earmuffs for chic pillbox hats, the timeless accessory often worn by the late former first lady throughout the 1960s, in various fabrics and colors.

While some of today’s hat wearers kept their accessory more subdued in shades of black and white, others opted for vibrant colors like fiery red.

Also at the Alice & Olivia presentation, a stylish gal was seen wearing a brown faux fur coat, a low-cut white and black top tucked into a pair of black and denim studded pants, paired with denim heels and a black pillbox hat. Getty Images
Stylist Yana Echko sported a black faux-fur and leather Stand Studio coat, a red Retrofete skirt, Van Palma pillbox hat, Chanel earrings, Quay sunglasses, Manu Atelier bag and Khaite boots to attend the Coach show. Getty Images
Fashion director and editor Denisa Palsha wore a black and red leather faux fur coat, a leather maxi dress, red gloves and a red pillbox hat with black sunglasses to attend the Christian Siriano show. Getty Images
Simple and chic is the vibe internet personality Alyssa Coscarelli went in a brown leather jacket, black pants, a black studded bag and a matching pillbox hat outside Altuzarra. Getty Images

These are not your mother’s gaucho pants

Many fabulous fashion week attendees proved to have mastered the art of dressing warm and comfortable while also looking stylish, thanks to today’s modern version of the effortless gaucho pants, also known as balloon pants, which are high-waisted, voluminous trousers that taper at the ankle.

Influencer Blanca Arimany was photographed wearing black balloon pants paired with a white jacket, a studded black clutch and a white pillbox hat outside the Altuzarra show. Getty Images
Tiffany Hsu wore multiple trends in one — a black pillbox hat, a black and brown faux fur coat, and grey balloon pants layered over a lavender knit tank and paired with brown pointy-toed heels. Getty Images
You can never go wrong with a classic black and white outfit. This NYFW attendee paired her leather balloon pants with matching heels, a white cropped cardigan, and a coordinating black and silver belt and clutch to watch the outside Altuzarra show. Getty Images
Reporter Samantha Horton looked chic in a brown cape jacket, black Alice & Olivia balloon pants, a matching Bottega bag and a pair of black Schutz boots for the Derek Lam Fashion Show. Getty Images
Journalist Eva Chen was seen wearing a gray faux-fur jacket, a gray turtleneck sweater, gray pants, and gray balloon pants outside the Ashlyn show. Getty Images

Neckties aren’t just for men

Channeling their inner Diane Keaton, many showgoers were seen wearing neckties — paired with full-blown suits— which have evolved from being a masculine staple into a versatile accessory for all.

For the Ralph Lauren show, this attendee opted for a full menswear look in a dark suit, white button-down shirt and a black tie paired with grey heels. Ouzounova / SplashNews.com

Business on top, party on the bottom

NYFW-goers gave a whole new meaning to blazers, which are oftentimes viewed as a stuffy, rigid piece of fashion, no matter how one dresses it up.

Keeping with the menswear theme, blazers — in various colors, fabrics and structures — paired with skirts, tights and wide-leg pants were seen everywhere throughout the fashion-focused week.

Whimsical polka dots proved just how fun fashion can be

Polka dots were an unexpected trend spotted at NYFW that added some colorful fun to the cold and dreary streets of New York City.

These fashionistas turned heads in their bold choices — and looked good doing so.

For the Carolina Herrera show, Lauren Marie sported an Esque/By black and white polkadot cape worn over a black velvet top, paired with matching gloves, red tights, black Mary Jane ballet flats and a black Liz Claiborne clutch. Getty Images
For the Christian Siriano show, this stylish guest stopped traffic in her black and white polka dot mini dress, matching hat, black tights and white pumps. Daniel Edward Zuchnik for NY Post
For the Alice & Olivia presentation, this attendee sported a pink and black polkadot Alice & Olivia blouse, black leather shorts, black heels and a pink bag. Getty Images
