LOS ANGELES () — County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath announced late Friday that she will not run for mayor of Los Angeles.
“After much prayer and many honest conversations with my family, friends, and partners in this work, I have decided not to enter the 2026 mayoral race,” Horvath said in a statement. “Our work in Los Angeles County is not yet finished, and the entire County deserves a brighter future, too.”
Horvath was reportedly considering a run for the mayor’s office. In a video posted on social media, Horvath said she will focus on reelection for a second term on the Board of Supervisors, representing the Third Supervisorial District.
Billionaire developer Rick Caruso confirmed this week he would not run for mayor after reconsidering the decision following a Los Angeles Times report claiming Bass directed the watering down of an after-action report on the Palisades Fire. Bass’ office vehemently denied the allegations.
Austin Beutner, a former LAUSD superintendent, also withdrew from the race this week following the death of his 22-year-old daughter last month.
The deadline to file a declaration of intention for the June primary election is noon Saturday. More than 20 candidates are running for mayor of L.A.
