LANCASTER, Calif. () — Two wildfires are burning near Lancaster on Saturday, triggering evacuation warnings and a shelter-in-place order for some Antelope Valley residents as strong winds help drive the flames.
This comes as parts of Los Angeles County are under a red flag warning.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger released a statement saying she is closely monitoring the fires. She urged residents to follow orders and be ready to go.
Corral Fire near Antelope Acres
The Corral Fire is burning off 110th Street West and West Avenue E near the unincorporated Antelope Acres community, about 17 minutes west of Lancaster.
Evacuation warnings and a shelter-in-place order have been issued for some nearby residents.
Los Angeles County firefighters first responded to the fire shortly after noon, and by 2 p.m., officials said forward progress had stopped.
Firefighters say the fire is holding at 130 acres.
So far, there are no reported injuries, damage, or threats to any structures.
Grand Fire near Lancaster
Firefighters first responded to the Grand Fire, burning near 70th Street East and East Avenue G, east of Lancaster, shortly after 2 p.m.
Fire officials say it’s currently at 60 acres, and crews are still working on containment.
