BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES () — An allegedly armed man was shot by Los Angeles police after a confrontation in Boyle Heights early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Officers responded to a call at about 1:45 a.m. of a man assaulting a person with a knife at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Glenn Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
When officers arrived, they confronted the man and ordered him to drop the knife, authorities said.
Police said the man refused, advanced toward officers, and at least one officer opened fire.
The man continued to refuse to surrender, prompting officers to deploy a foam round, which ultimately subdued him, police said.
He was taken to a hospital in stable condition. No officers or other individuals were injured during the incident, according to authorities.
A knife was recovered at the scene.
Glenn Avenue and Dacotah Street were expected to remain closed for several hours as the investigation continued.
