A 38-year-old woman riding an e-bike was hit and killed by a car in Colton, adding fuel to a growing safety debate across Southern California.
COLTON, Calif. () — A 38-year-old woman riding an e-bike was hit and killed by a car in Colton, adding fuel to a growing safety debate across Southern California.
Asandria Jacobo was killed Friday night when a Volvo SUV slammed into her e-bike at the intersection of 12th Street and East F Street, just blocks away from Fleming Park, according to the Colton Police Department.
Jacobo was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Additional details about the deadly incident were not available.
This latest tragedy comes as cities like Glendora and Murrieta recently passed new ordinances to crack down on reckless riding behavior.
