Thousands of bottles of blood pressure medication are being recalled nationwide after the products failed quality testing, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
India-based Inventia Healthcare Ltd. initiated a voluntary recall for 13,567 bottles of the 25-milligram dosage chlorthalidone tablets because they don’t dissolve properly, according to the FDA enforcement report. The recall was initiated in September.
Chlorthalidone is used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention, according to Mayo Clinic.

The bottles, which hold 100 pills each, have the National Drug Code 64980-599-01 and an expiration date of April 2027.

The FDA classified the action as Class II, which it describes as “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

The product was previously recalled in June, also for dissolution issues, affecting more than 11,400 bottles.
