Whitney Port Says She’s ‘Trying to Be Really Careful’ of Expectations in Candid Fertility Update

Whitney Port is equal parts optimistic and realistic going into her next embryo transfer.

“Hopefully getting very close to our next transfer,” Port, 41, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Friday, September 18, after a follower asked for an update on the reality TV alum’s fertility journey. “After everything we’ve been through with infertility and surrogacy, I made the decision that I want to try carrying again.”

Port and her husband, Tim Rosenman, welcomed son Sonny in 2017 before The Hills alum suffered multiple pregnancy losses while trying to expand their family. While dealing with secondary infertility, Port and Rosenman, 45, revealed in 2023 that they were exploring surrogacy. After a pair of respective gestational carriers each suffered miscarriages, Port announced in July that she wanted to pursue carrying a pregnancy herself again.

“We still have two embryos and, if everything goes according to plan, I’ll hopefully be transferring one in the next couple of months,” she revealed on Friday. “Getting my hernia repaired was actually part of preparing for that. My doctors recommend taking care of it beforehand, so it wasn’t something I potentially had to deal with during a pregnancy.”

Whitney Port’s journey to expand her family with husband Tim Rosenman has faced its fair share of setbacks. Port and Rosenman, who wed in November 2015, welcomed son Sonny in July 2017. Following Sonny’s arrival, the Hills alum suffered multiple pregnancy losses. “It’s been seven years of trying since Sonny. I got pregnant about a […]

According to Port, she’s cautiously optimistic to move forward with her plans.

“I’m excited, but I’m also trying to be really careful with my expectations,” she acknowledged on Friday. “After this many years of infertility and loss, I don’t think I know how to go into any of this with uncomplicated optimism anymore.”

She continued, “I can be hopeful and scared at the same time, and that’s pretty much where I am right now.”

As Whitney Port navigates her ongoing fertility journey, it’s been especially heartwrenching to watch her husband, Tim Rosenman, also go through the highs and lows. “I think for me, it’s really watching Timmy’s heartbreak,” Port, 40, exclusively told Us Weekly at the Reality TV Greats dinner hosted by Threads and Dear Media on Wednesday, March […]

“I think for me, [the hardest part is] really watching Timmy’s heartbreak,” she exclusively told Us in March. “It’s one thing for me to hold my own, and I feel like I know how to cope with that and how to calm myself down, but then, to see my partner, who I love so much. I just don’t know what to say or don’t have the answer for. I look at him as, like, such a rock and someone that I lean on for so much that it breaks my heart to see that.”

As for Port, she has found her emotions about the journey comes in “waves.”

“Honestly, what I’ve learned in [these] past seven years through going through this journey is, like, this sounds easy now, but turning to what my reality is at this point and if that is what it is, like, how amazing that is, and how grateful I am for that,” she said at the time. “It’s so cheesy and so cliché but turning into gratitude has really made me become at peace with whatever happens. We have two more embryos, so we’re trying to keep hopes up.”
