LOS FELIZ, LOS ANGELES () — It was a busy, wet day across Southern California as we saw some of the impacts of Hurricane Marie out in the Pacific.
The wet weather is likely a factor in a tree that fell in Los Feliz. It toppled over several vehicles at Vermont Avenue and Melbourne Avenue around 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Video from the scene shows the large tree on top of two vehicles in the street. The hood and windshield of one vehicle were completely smashed.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene, and we’re told one person was taken to the hospital in fair condition. The downed tree and its debris blocked much of Vermont Avenue.
Cleanup crews were called to clear the street. There was no word on when they expect to have it cleared.
“The car… completely smashed. It’s sad. I’ve never seen something like this before,” Carlos Hinchado said.
“The driver driving by must have been very unlucky also. That’s just very unlucky,” said Leonardo Tellefsen.

Water inundated parking lots near the Seal Beach Pier as lifeguards warned of high surf, rip currents and increased rescues along the coast.
Throughout the day on Sunday, inland areas saw light to moderate rain and street flooding, while the beaches saw high surf and rip currents.
The rain also caused a mess on the roadways. The roads were slick after months without rain, which caused a handful of crashes on the freeways.
