Travis Barker can still recall the ominous warning his daughter Alabama Barker gave before he miraculously survived a deadly 2008 plane crash.
Travis, 50, explained on the Monday, August 10, episode of the “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” podcast that he nearly skipped the trip after both he and Alabama felt uneasy about the flight.
“I’d said to my manager, ‘Is it too late to just pull out? I don’t really need to do this,’” Travis remembered. “I was just so content with being home with the kiddos, and he’s like, ‘Bro, you can’t cancel this late.’ So, I ended up flying out there.”
At the time, the Blink-182 drummer had three young children at home. (Travis shares son Landon, 22, and daughter Alabama, 20, with ex-wife Shanna Moakler. He is also the stepfather to daughter Atiana De La Hoya, whom Moakler, 51, shares with ex Oscar De La Hoya. Travis and wife Kourtney Kardashian share one child, son Rocky, 2.)
Alabama was only 2 years old when she seemingly had a premonition about the tragedy that would unfold on the return flight from his gig.
“I say bye to Bama. She’s young at the time,” Travis shared. “She’s like, ‘Dad, don’t go!’ She’s bawling and she doesn’t usually do that. She’s like, ‘The roof’s gonna come off,’ and I’m like, ‘What is she talking about?’”
Despite his daughter’s haunting words, the musician and pal DJ AM flew to South Carolina to perform with Gavin DeGraw and Jane Addiction singer Perry Farrell.
“I get there, play our show, and then we’re supposed to leave the next morning,” Travis said. “But everyone else that was with me was in a hurry to get home. So, we booked a private plane, super last minute.”

Travis explained that there are “usually a bunch of hoops to jump through” to book him a plane because he always has a lot of questions.
“I was like, ‘Who’s the pilot? Has the plane been maintenanced?’” he recalled asking. “I want to know everything, and none of that stuff happened.”
Travis remembered getting to the airport around 11 p.m. or midnight and it being “foggy” with “one plane in the distance that’s really small.”
The whole situation didn’t sit well with the Meet the Barkers alum.

“I had an awful feeling,” he confessed, revealing he called his dad, Randy Barker, to express his concerns. “My dad was like, ‘You’re gonna be fine. Just get on the plane. Call me when you get home.’”
Ultimately, Travis agreed to take the private plane — even with a nagging feeling in his gut.
“I knew something feels off,” he revealed. “I even told my dad, ‘If something happens to me, please make sure the kids are taken care of.’ I was saying way too much. All the signs were there.”
The plane crashed on their way home to California, killing the two pilots as well as Travis’ assistant Chris Baker and security guard Charles Still Jr. (Investigators later reported that pieces of the plane’s tires broke off and damaged the hydraulic system, resulting in the brakes failing and damage to the thrust reversers, per Billboard.)

Travis and DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein) survived the crash but both sustained serious burn injuries. Travis said his “whole body” caught on fire when he tried to escape the aircraft.
“Older me would just say, ‘I think I’m not going to get on the plane,’” Travis said on Monday. “Everything was there and I’d never felt like that before.”
Following the accident, Travis spent six months in the burn center and refused to travel by plane. He flew for the first time since the crash in August 2021 after he began dating Kardashian, 47.
DJ AM, meanwhile, died from a drug overdose nearly one year after the deadly accident. He was 36.
