The View’s Joy Behar Addresses Why Her Name Is in the Epstein Files: ‘I’m Not Guilty’

Joy Behar is setting the record straight on why her name could be found in the Jeffrey Epstein files.

“That list has a lot of crazy names on it. It’s almost a way to muddy the waters,” Behar, 83, claimed on the Thursday, February 19, episode of The View. “So you say Whoopi [Goldberg’s] con the list and so am I, I think. We’re on the list because we were at a party or a wedding or something that somebody [else] might’ve been [at]. That’s what I found out.”

From Behar’s perspective, not everyone named in the Epstein files is guilty of wrongdoing or committing a crime.

“I was at [Donald] Trump‘s wedding to Marla [Maples]. Maybe Epstein was there too? Who knows!” Behar continued. “That means that I’m not guilty, obviously, but these other ones, how are you going to decide who’s guilty and who’s not? It’s very tricky.”

Several celebrities are addressing their connection to Jeffrey Epstein following the release of files connected to the late convicted sex offender. Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy to traffic minors. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. Before the case went to trial, Epstein died in a […]

Cohost Sunny Hostin, who is a former federal prosecutor, agreed with Behar’s assessment that not every individual named in the Epstein files should be scrutinized.

“There are plenty of people named in the list that may have not done anything wrong,” she said. “But I think there are a lot of people on that list that are guilty of wrongdoing.”

Earlier in the week, Goldberg, 70, cleared the air on why she was named in the Epstein files.

During the show’s Hot Topics segment, Goldberg shared an email that had her name mentioned.

“What does it say? ‘Whoopi needs a plane to get to Monaco. John Lennon’s charity is paying for it.’ It should say Julian’s charity. ‘They don’t want to charter, so they are looking for private owners. Here’s the info,’ and they give all the information,” Goldberg said on Tuesday, February 17. “I wasn’t his girlfriend. I wasn’t his friend. I’m speaking about me because I’m getting dragged. People actually believe that I was with him. Honey, come on. Every man I’ve been with, you’ve known about him because either the Enquirer wrote about it. People wrote about this stuff.”

The Oscar winner reiterated on Thursday that her name is listed because of a plane she didn’t even use.

“They go to all the people who have private planes and say, ‘Do you have one?’ I didn’t get on the plane. I didn’t know they were looking for a plane,” she claimed. “I had no idea that the plane that I was supposed to be on was no longer available. So, I’m named in there like, ‘Whoopi Goldberg needs a plane.’”

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images Whoopi Goldberg doesn’t appreciate being involved in conspiracy theories. Goldberg, 68, railed against “harmful” internet rumors during the Thursday, January 4, episode of The View while discussing recently unsealed court documents which revealed a list of celebrities who visited convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s island or had ties to him. “Let me […]

In a letter sent to Congress over President’s Day weekend, Attorney General Pam Bondi said the Justice Department released all of the Epstein files required by law.

Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy to traffic minors. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. Before the federal case went to trial, Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail at the age of 66.
