SAGE, Calif. () — Firefighters are battling a fast-moving brush fire in Riverside County Friday that prompted evacuation orders and warnings for nearby residents.
The so-called Taffle Fire broke out shortly after 12:30p.m. in the 44200 block of Taffle Ranch Road, south of Red Mountain Road in the unincorporated area of Sage, according to CAL FIRE.
So far it has burned at least 55 acres and it’s 0% contained.
Evacuation orders were issued for zones RVC-1912 and RVC-1979. See the evacuation zone map here. Evacuation warnings were issued for all of residences and ranches located east of Oak, north of Taffle Ranch and south of Red Mountain.
A care and reception center has been established at Hemet High School 41701 Stetson Ave. in Hemet.
CAL FIRE and the Riverside County Fire Department have multiple ground and air crew helping battle the blaze.
The agency said multiple engine and hand crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate through medium vegetation in the lightly populated area.
No injuries or property damage has been reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
