Southbound 215 Freeway shut down after wrong-way crash in Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. () — All lanes of the southbound 215 Freeway were shut down following a deadly wrong-way crash in the Riverside area Wednesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic log, a driver was going northbound on southbound lanes when they crashed at Central Avenue around 12:20 a.m.

It’s unclear if the wrong-way driver crashed into another car, but at least one person died.

The deadly crash forced the closure of all southbound lanes for several hours. The roadway was cleared and reopened around 5:15 a.m.
