Is it Donald Duct?
Disney World is facing backlash after guests noticed that the props on the one of the rides was seemingly held together by cheap adhesive.
The sticky situation reportedly affected Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a log flume inspired by the 2009 Disney animated film “The Princess and the Frog.”
However, one sharp-eyed rider noticed one feature that didn’t belong in this magic setting. “Tianas Bayou Adventure is literally being held together with Duct tape, which mind you was not invented during the time period this ride takes place in,” said an X user in a viral post.
Accompanying photos show a green car whose rear is slapped with several strips of the green adhesive.
Viewers felt like the tape detracted from the attraction, which transports riders back to 1920s New Orleans, allowing them to take a tour of the film protagonist’s new business, Tiana’s foods.
“Oh my GOD NO WAY this is so embarrassing,” said one X user, while another wrote that Walt Disney would “have a freaking conniption if he saw this.”
A third snarked, “It’s ok! That’s just ‘go-away green’ duct tape, no one will even see it!”
Others noted that the tape seemed par for the course given the myriad malfunctions that have plagued the water ride since it’s opening in 2024.
“Went on it yesterday and half of Tiana’s head was on the ground,” decried one Redditor. “The ride shut down right after we got off.”
“Almost every major animatronic was either not fully functioning or not functioning at all,” said another, reviewing their experience on the ride. “The first Tiana animatronic had a dead hand. Louis’ mouth did not move at all, and the fabric around his neck was torn. The Mama Odie figure at the end was completely static. The screen at the major lift was not on.”
They added, “How is a ride this new and this major in such a sad state?”
Others bemoaned the fact that “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” replaced Splash Mountain, which they deemed infinitely better.
It appears that the ride’s counterpart at Disneyland, which opened in November 2024, isn’t faring much better.
In January, guests had to be evacuated from the track after one of the log boats started taking on water just before going up the final lift hill.
“They need to close this ride down (on both coasts) and either give it an extensive refurb or just keep it closed,” said one X critic in response to the incident.
“This is what you get when you don’t properly take care of your ride.”
