Sixth Street Bridge closed between downtown LA and Boyle Heights due to police activity, LAPD says

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES () — The Sixth Street Bridge was closed between downtown Los Angeles and Boyle Heights on Friday morning due to police activity, authorities said.

Police officers and firefighters responded to the iconic structure sometime before 9:30 a.m.

At least six Los Angeles Fire Department vehicles were seen parked on the viaduct, along with several LAPD cruisers.

The bridge was shut down to traffic in both directions, and there was no estimate of when lanes would be reopened.

Metro buses are expected to detour via Seventh Street between Alameda and Boyle due until at least 3:00 p.m., the agency said in a social media post.

“Toward Montebello Metrolink Station, stops from 6th/Alameda – Whittier/Boyle will not be served. Toward Wilshire/Western Station, stops 6th/Mateo and 6th/Alameda will not be served,” the Metro statement said.
