Single woman shocked by what she discovers after matching with the ‘perfect guy’ on Hinge

Single woman shocked by what she discovers after matching with the ‘perfect guy’ on Hinge

A strong internet connection and some good old-fashioned detective work — plus a hand with a ring on it — were all this single lady needed to find the truth about her hot Hinge date’s marital status.

In two now viral Instagram videos, LA-based comedian Jasmine Pariani recently detailed the time she was excited to match with a “gorgeous man” from England with a six-pack who “loved to cook” — only to find a photo of him wearing a wedding ring on a second scroll-through of his profile.

“I’m like, wait, wait, wait — has he had a wedding ring on in all his pictures? Like, what’s going on here?” Pariani recalled, laughing. “So I start looking, I see a handful of his photos, and he’s got a wedding ring on.”

Pariani told viewers that she “love(s) a mystery” and that she proceeded to go down a research rabbit-hole, easily locating his company directory as the would-be beaux listed his job on his Hinge profile. After finding his full name, she typed it into Google — only to find a registry on the wedding site The Knot for a vow renewal dated for the previous week.

“I’m thinking, oh the trail, it’s warm. It’s a hot trail, baby!” said Pariani.

After pleading with her 10-year-old MacBook not to crash before she did “one more search,” Pariani sleuthed further, diving deep to find the man’s wife’s LinkedIn. There, she learned the woman had a job that would likely require her to be away for long stretches of time.

In her follow-up video, Pariani continued on with her modern-day anti-fairytale, sharing that she soon dug up her match’s wedding registry, followed by his wife’s Instagram profile. There, she noticed something a “little weird” — that while Pariani’s match followed his wife, she did not follow him back.

Regardless, Pariani wanted to give the man’s wife a warning of her husband’s shady behavior and considered messaging her. But first, she brought the idea to her “council” of friends — “because sometimes, I can’t be trusted to make my own decisions,” she quipped.

One friend advised Pariani not to message the wife just yet, suggesting that she bring up the issue with her match first as she didn’t think they “necessarily had enough information to be DM’ing his wife.”

The single sleuth went on to dig up her would-be date’s wedding registry and his wife’s Instagram profile. “It’s too easy to find information,” Pariani said. Instagram/thedoglord

Taking her friend’s advice, Pariani scheduled a FaceTime call with her potentially married match. As soon as the man’s video appeared, Pariani scanned his background, searching for any signs of a woman’s aesthetic touch — but found none.

Potentially sensing a vibe shift, Pariani’s match came right out and said that he was “going through a divorce” and it was “not finalized.”

“I’m like, you know what? That makes sense. Because the vow renewal that I found — like The Knot website — it was a vow renewal. They’d been married for like five years, so that’s not a good sign.”

However, commenters seemed to disagree in general, with one posting, “Why would you get a renewal ONE WEEK ago while you are getting divorced?”

Another commented, “Tell the wife…I wouldn’t trust him.”

While Pariani seemed to entertain the man’s alleged explanation, she did have some thoughts on just how easy it is to find people’s personal info on the internet.

“’What I will say is this. When I was Nancy Drew-ing… I found a short film this guy was in from 2016! What I’m trying to say is, it’s too easy to find information,” Pariani said.

“You’ve got to be f-ing careful with how much information you’re giving to strangers on the internet,” she continued. “Because there’s people like me who love to find out information for fun!”
