Another debate on airplane etiquette is taking off.
A female flyer took to social media to share that her boyfriend makes her sit in the middle seat on airplanes — and it started a contested conversation.
“Getting a boyfriend is all fun and games until you realize you have to sit in the middle seat now,” user @sssswhitey wrote in the on-screen text over a video of herself squeezed on a plane before panning the camera over to her boyfriend sitting in the window seat.
“I miss my freedom and the window (jk mostly),” she wrote in the caption.
Viewers rushed to the comment section to share their many opinions on the matter.
Many noted that their partners choose to take the middle seat so they don’t have to.
“If a man makes you sit in the middle, he doesn’t like you,” one person declared.
“Spoiler alert: no, you don’t,” another said.
“I’ve never dated anyone who would make me sit in the middle. Not once,” a third fumed.
“This is embarrassing lol sidewalk rule also applies to planes. Sorry girlie,” a fourth chimed in.
On the other hand, many argued that there was nothing wrong with giving up the window or aisle seat if their partner is taller.
“These comments are so weird lol. He would let me sit in the window/aisle if I wanted to, but I love him and he’s tall, so I take the middle?? Do you guys not like your partners?” one questioned.
“Smaller person gets the middle. Has nothing to do with man vs women,” another concurred.
Meanwhile, others shared that they switch or take turns — or take other measures to make sure they’re both comfortable.
“My husband and I book the aisle and window seats and act like we don’t know each other,” one quipped.
“My spouse and I both sit in the aisle. Sometimes rows apart,” another shared.
