Russia launched over 450 drones across Ukraine in overnight attacks, according to Ukraine’s Armed Forces, while Kyiv struck oil refineries in Russia’s Tatarstan, according to Russian authorities.

Russia launched 453 drones of various types across Ukraine, 409 of which were neutralised by Ukraine’s Armed Forces. However, 13 locations were struck.

Multiple attacks on the city of Stryi, in the Lviv region, which borders Poland, left a multi-storey residential building, an outbuilding near a school and buildings near a railway station damaged after being struck by Russian drones.

In the city of Izyum, a 26-year-old woman died as a result of the detonation of an explosive device, according to the Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehub, while the city of Kharkiv and 15 settlements in the Kharkiv region were subjected to Russian attacks, leaving three people injured, including a 73-year-old woman, Syniehub added.

On Saturday, at least five people were injured in the region of Volyn in western Ukraine after Russian forces launched a mass attack which lasted more than four hours, according to the regional Governor Roman Romaniuk, with more than 10 drones flying in the region’s airspace.

One train in Lutsk which had been evacuated was struck by debris, sparking a fire. No injuries were reported, according to the governor.

Ukraine strikes oil facilities

Meanwhile, two people were killed and 12 were injured following a Ukrainian drone attack which sparked a fire at an industrial facility in Nizhnekamsk, Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, home to a major oil refining and petrochemical hub, according to Russian authorities.

Ukraine Defence Intelligence also said it had struck the Slavyansk-ECO oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban in Russia’s southeastern region of Krasnodar Krai, hitting a key oil-processing unit and the refinery’s tank farm.

Russia and Ukraine continue to target each other’s energy-related facilities ahead of the winter. While Russia has focused on Ukraine’s electricity and energy, Ukraine has mainly targeted Russia’s oil and gas infrastructure.

Russia says Putin meeting with Zelenskyy at G20 ‘impossible’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during an interview on Saturday that he was willing to travel to the G20 summit in Miami to meet on the sidelines with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We have to come. We have to meet, to speak and make decisions,” adding, “It’s not about words. What I will tell him or what he wants to tell me, it doesn’t matter. Results matter. That’s it.”

But Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called that option “impossible” and said that Putin will only meet with Zelenskyy in Moscow.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia will not cease its “special military operations” in Ukraine during possible peace talks.
