Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner’s Death Certificates Released, Reveal They Were Cremated

Rob Reiner and wife Michele Singer Reiner’s death certificates have been released more than one week after they were killed in their home.

According to the documents obtained by TMZ on Tuesday, December 23, Rob and Michele were both cremated at Mount Sinai Mortuary following an autopsy.

The certificates from the Los Angeles County Public Health Department also confirmed details about the case that were previously released, including the cause of death: “multiple sharp force injuries.”

The filing also revealed how the injuries occurred, noting they were “with knife, by another,” and that their deaths took place within “minutes” of sustaining their injuries.

The death certificates indicated that Rob was discovered first at approximately 3:45 p.m., while Michele was found one minute later at 3:46 p.m.

Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood, California, home on December 14. They were 78 and 70, respectively.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” the family’s spokesperson said in a statement to Variety at the time. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

Shortly after news broke about their deaths, Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Alan S. Hamilton confirmed in a press conference that Rob and Michele were discovered with “apparent stab wounds.”

Us Weekly confirmed on December 15 that Rob and Michele’s youngest son, Nick, 32, was arrested on a murder charge in relation to the crimes.

Los Angeles district attorney Nathan Hochman announced in a press conference on December 16 that Nick has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He is facing life in prison without parole or death penalty if he’s convicted.

Nick, who has struggled with substance abuse, appeared in court for the first time on Thursday, December 17, but did not enter a plea. His arraignment date is set for January 7.

Nick is one of Rob and Michele’s three children. The pair, who tied the knot in 1989, also shared son Jake, 34, and daughter Romy, 28. Rob was also the father of daughter Tracy, 61, whom he adopted while married to late ex-wife Penny Marshall.

“I came from the greatest family ever,” Tracy told NBC News on December 15 after the death of her father and stepmother. “I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”

Jake and Romy broke their silence two days later telling TMZ in a statement, “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

Us reported on Monday, December 22, that Michele’s sisters, Suzanne and Martine, have jumped into action to support Tracy, Jake and Romy following their parents’ tragic deaths.

“Tracy, Jake and Romy are dealing with such an unimaginable loss right now, and there is so much for them to navigate amidst their grief,” a source exclusively told Us. “Michele’s sisters have stepped in and been a huge support for the children.”

The insider added: “The community has really come together for the family as well, because Rob and Michele had such a huge network of close friends. Everyone just wants to help in any way that they can. Rob and Michele did so much for so many people, oftentimes things people don’t even know about. They were incredible people.”
