NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. () — Entertainment at a fundraising event in Newport Beach on Thursday stunned guests and prompted an alert from local police.
Video from the event shows a helicopter performing stunts, with the chopper flying extremely close to the ground as flames shoot up from below.
The helicopter then circles tightly around trees before red and blue smoke comes out of the back of the aircraft. By the end of the stunt, the golf course was blanketed in smoke.
It happened at the Newport Beach Country Club.
In a post on social media on Thursday morning, the Newport Beach Police Department warned residents that they may notice increased noise and activity during a private event at the Newport Beach Country Club.
“The event will include a helicopter flyover, fireworks, loud noises and theatrical smoke effects as part of a planned demonstration,” the department wrote.
The Dishon Group Real Estate Instagram page, which shared the now-viral video, said the stunt happened at the SEAL Future Foundation’s annual gala. The group says the mission is dedicated to raising vital funds to support Navy SEALs transitioning from active duty military careers into civilian life, focusing on health, education and career programs.
The Dishon Group added that it was not a sponsor or organizer of the event, just an attendee.
