VALLEY GLEN, LOS ANGELES () — An LAPD officer heading to an emergency backup call at a rowdy Halloween party struck and killed a pedestrian overnight in the San Fernando Valley.
It all started with a chaotic Halloween house party on Weddington Street in Sherman Oaks, leading to the deadly crash in Valley Glen.
Police got a “shots fired” call just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday and found a chaotic crowd of an estimated 300 people gathered for the party in question.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirms the officer who was called for backup was en route to the party with lights and sirens on when they struck a 32-year-old woman on Woodman Avenue between Bessemer and Erwin streets. That person died at the scene.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
One person who lives in the area and heard the impact of that collision described what they saw.
“I see one cop car in the middle of the street, sideways, then I see a cop a couple feet from the curb looking into the street. And I look into the street and you could see the body in the middle of the street n the floor.”
As for the party, it was eventually cleared out and no injuries were reported. It’s unclear if a gun was found at the scene.
Additional details were not available.
