Patrick Clancy’s new wife, Rachel Danis, defended their relationship, which began after his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, killed their three children in January 2023.
“I don’t understand how the story has been so twisted,” Danis said in a teaser for their upcoming appearance on 60 Minutes, which was shared on the Friday, September 18, episode of CBS Mornings.
She continued, “I would hope people know that Pat is, as I said before, the most selfless father and supportive partner. And I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.”
Patrick and Danis’ romance has been met with backlash after some people questioned how he could move on after Lindsay, 36, killed their kids: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months.
The Clancy patriarch went out to run errands on January 24, 2023, and he returned home to find that Lindsay had jumped from the second-story of their home. As he called 911 for help, Patrick learned that she had strangled their three kids.
While Patrick has publicly forgiven Lindsay, the couple filed for divorce in 2024. It’s not currently clear when it was finalized. Patrick and Danis began dating in February 2024, and they wed in April 2026.
Patrick became a focal point of the trial when he was called as the first witness to testify. However, Danis has stayed out of the spotlight leading up to their 60 Minutes interview.
Throughout the trial, Lindsay’s defense argued that she should not be held criminally responsible due to her postpartum psychosis and other mental health struggles. However, the prosecution claimed she was aware of what she was doing when she killed her kids.
Lindsay’s case was declared a mistrial on September 4 after the jury was unable to come to a unanimous verdict. While 11 jurors found her not guilty by reason of insanity, one holdout juror refused to agree with them.
The prosecution has not yet revealed if they plan to bring the case back to trial.

As the case made national headlines, several conspiracy theories began to swirl that Patrick was involved in the killings of his kids. Some critics even pointed to his relationship with Danis as a potential clue due to how fast he seemingly moved on.
After the case was declared a mistrial, Patrick’s attorney issued a statement slamming the conspiracy theories.
“Over the past months, Patrick Clancy and his family have been subjected to a relentless, escalating and destructive defamation campaign,” attorney Howard Cooper said. “This campaign of misinformation has been launched and promoted by minor celebrities, so-called influencers and outright conspiracy theorists who appear intent on boosting their own social media profiles and potential profit by publishing what they know to be outright falsehoods that Patrick was somehow involved in the death of his young children and other vile claims.”
Cooper said the allegations created “real life threats to his reputation, livelihood, and life,” and emphasized that Patrick wants to focus on “preserving the memory of Cora, Dawson and Callan Clancy and supporting other women facing perinatal mental health challenges.”
“This spread of blatant and baseless falsehoods must stop,” he continued. “Those responsible should understand that there will be consequences, and every appropriate measure will be pursued to hold them accountable, including legally. Law enforcement has been notified.”
