Paris Hilton is clearing the air after some social media users criticized her for taking the spotlight in her family’s recent Beauty and the Beast-inspired Halloween photo shoot.
On Monday, October 26, Hilton, 45, shared Instagram photos of herself, husband Carter Reum and their two children in elaborate costumes dressed as characters from the hit Disney cartoon. Hilton cosplayed as Disney princess Belle, her husband dressed as the Beast, son Phoenix, 3, was talking candelabra Lumière and daughter London, 2, transformed into teacup Chip.
Hilton faced criticism from some social media followers for taking the lead role as Belle instead of her daughter.
Responding to an Instagram video dissecting the discourse on Wednesday, October 28, Hilton clarified that London herself chose to dress as Chip.
“Beauty and the Beast is one of their favorite movies, and London said she wanted to dress up as Chip,” the reality star and DJ wrote. “She said it was her favorite character in the movie.🥰.”
Last month, the Simple Life alum opened up to Us about life with two children, which she said resulted in her adopting a “whole new style.”
“I feel like I, in my life, I do so many things,” Hilton exclusively told Us at The Blonds’ 20th anniversary fashion show in September. “I’m a mom, I’m a businesswoman, I’m a DJ, I’m a pop star, I’m an artist. I do it all. So there’s always whatever vibe or theme is happening for the day, but for me, I’m a sliving mom, so I’ll always be, you know, dressing the way I do and having fun with it. But then also, like, the hot housewife vibes as well.”
Hilton revealed that London has already taken inspiration from her mom’s love of fashion. She said the toddler raids her closet “all the time.”
“She’s only 2 and a half, and she’s coming in my closet, trying to try on my shoes now, wearing the purses, the outfits,” Hilton said. “She’s already trying, and she’s a mini fashionista. She’s like a mini me. She’s so gorgeous, so sweet, and she can raid my closet whenever she likes.”
She continued, “She is the luckiest girl in the world because [of] the amount of clothes that she’s going to have, and I tell her that every day when I’m trying something on. She’s like, ‘Mama, I love that.’ I’m like, ‘Honey, this is going to be all yours one day, so you are a very, very lucky girl.’”
