MURRIETA, Calif. () — New details have emerged in a December mobile home fire in Murrieta that killed two young sisters, ages 11 and 12, as both parents now face felony charges in connection with the deadly blaze.
Authorities said the girls’ father, Adam Keenan, was arrested Friday and booked on charges including reckless burning, child endangerment and being under the influence of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
The girls’ mother, Stacey Hales, is out on bail and faces charges of child endangerment and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Multiple pets also died in the fire.
“As a result of that investigation, investigators determined there was sufficient evidence to establish probable cause that Stacey Hales and Adam Keenan, both residents of the home, were criminally responsible for the fire and resulting deaths of the juveniles and animals,” read a press release from the Murrieta Police Department.
Investigators have not released information on how the fire started. The case remains under investigation.
