LOS ANGELES () — Once the Oscars are handed out, the 1,500 or so guests invited to the Governors Ball hightail it to the party, just steps away. They all have two things in common: they’re hungry and they’re thirsty.
For the 32nd year, Wolfgang Puck and his team of culinary experts are in charge of the food being served at Oscars’ official after-party.
“Everybody knows about the Oscars,” said Puck. “I remember I was on a beach in Uruguay and some woman came running up to me and said, ‘Oh, the chef for the Oscars!'”
Puck and company are ready to create culinary bliss with their menu.
“We’re going to be pushing out about 25,000 plates of food from the kitchen that evening,” said Puck’s son, Chef Byron Lazaroff-Puck. “We got [sic] 150 chefs to do it!”

Some of the food is on the elegant side, but there is always something for everyone among the dozens of delectable dishes.
“There’s nothing wrong with simple,” said Eric Klein, vice president of culinary at Wolfgang Puck Catering. “Comfort is everything and I think, you know, all of us, from the most sophisticated and the simple, comfort always wins.”
Once guests know what they want to eat, they have plenty of choices for what to drink, including 1,700 bottles of champagne to fill some 7,000 glasses. And that champagne comes from royalty.
“They’ll be enjoying our wines,” said Prince Robert of Luxembourg, president and CEO of Domaine Clarence Dillon. “We’re a subplot, if you will, or a supporting actor to an extraordinary celebration.”

The celebrating will be done surrounded by beautiful flowers, designed with floral finesse by Petals L.A.
“At last count, we have about 12,500 blooms for the Oscars this year. There are going to be a lot of flowers,” said Saco Sarkissian of Petals, L.A.
There are also several dessert options, including a classic. For the first time, the chocolate Oscars sprayed in gold will be done at the ball!
Some favorites are returning, too. Back by popular demand: chicken pot pie, mac and cheese and the smoked salmon and caviar on an Oscar-shaped cracker.
