Mom’s ridiculous school lunch Oreo request triggers massive — and hilarious — backlash

To survive the back-to-school mom group chat, you’ve gotta be one tough cookie.

Sweet text message exchanges between parents have gone sour thanks to a sugary snack that was packed in a small child’s lunchbox, causing one mommy friend group to crumble into chocolatey dust.

And the internet is eating it up.

The viral mama drama, a 10-part Instagram series popularized by @AshlieghJamz, a mom who transforms her hectic life into songs using Suno, an AI music generator, revolves around Oreo cookies.

The 10-part Instagram series has gone viral, sparking a chain of hilarious reactions from all corners of social media.

When “Michelle,” one of the six moms in Ashleigh’s group chat, asks the other mothers to refrain from sending their five-year-olds to school with the cream-filled treats because she doesn’t allow her daughter, “Ava,” to eat them, all parenting hell broke loose.

“I just wondered if we could agree not to send things like Oreos, chocolate candy, etc. so the kids aren’t comparing lunches?” requested Michelle, per Ashleigh’s initial post, fetching nearly 10 million video views.

Ashleigh was not immediately available to respond to The Post’s request for a comment.

Michelle’s seemingly audacious ask, however, elicited immediate responses from the annoyed moms of the group chat.

“I don’t really think [you] can control what everyone else packs though,” a mom named Casey wrote in response to Michelle’s petition.

Fighting between mothers in group chats has become a hot-button issue this year, seeing VIP and everyday parents publicly detail the toxicity they’ve endured from other mothers and fathers. kucherav – stock.adobe.com

“With respect, I am not changing my daughter’s lunch because your daughter wants an Oreo,” spat mom Charlotte.

“This is getting ridiculous,” mom Jenny teased, punctuating her indifference with the laughing emoji.

But mom group chat beefs, be they over sweets or A-list social soirées, are oft-no laughing matter.

Ashley Tisdale of “High School Musical” fame, now a married mom of two, shined a stinging spotlight on the “toxic” nature of mommy-led messaging threads in January.

The Disney star-turned-whistleblower openly exposed her celebrity ex-besties for unceremoniously excluding her from their clique, barring her from their group chat and disinviting her from their haute hangouts.

Sadly, the parental pettiness isn’t specific to the moms of Hollywood.

Izzy Anaya, 46, an Upper West Side mother of two, previously told The Post she’s been iced out by the hoity-toity snob moms in her NYC neighborhood, too, simply because she marches to the beat of her own drum.

But when it comes to the foods that children eat, the mom feuding can’t be beat.

Throughout Ashleigh’s virtual saga, nicknamed “Oreo-gate,” the mothers refuse to adhere to Michelle’s cookie ban demands, prompting her to ask the school to outlaw Oreos.

But when her plea to the administrators fell on deaf ears, the irate woman began chastising the other mothers for allowing their kids to bring the cookies to school and share them with Ava, according to the texts.

Michelle then allegedly went to the school and began searching through the other children’s lunch boxes for Oreos, which she considers “restricted food,” before asking the teacher to seat Ava away from the Oreo-lovers during lunchtime.

Michelle, apparently, became increasingly upset by the other mothers’ lack of sympathy regarding her anti-Oreo plight.

The bizarre behavior inspired all the other mothers to pack two Oreos in their kids’ lunches the next day, with one mom sending the “doubled stuffed” version of the little delights, further infuriating Michelle.

It’s an ongoing digital dispute that’s incited a firestorm of mixed reactions across social media.

“Well Michelle, that sounds like a YOU problem. Also, I wasn’t going to pack Oreos for my kid, but I’ll make a special trip to the store to pick some up now,” joked a commenter.

An Instagram account for Oreos expressed the brand’s shock over the controversy beneath Ashleigh’s vid. Brent Hofacker – stock.adobe.com

“The audacity to even ask this. I would have simply said ‘No’, not respectfully. Y’all were too nice,” another chimed.

“Oreo-gate was NOT on my 2026 bingo card,” wrote a verified account for the cookie brand.

“Our job as a parent is not to control the environment so our kids never feel discomfort (re: remove Oreos),” noted another mother. “Our job is to help them ride through the disappointment/ envy they feel when others have things they don’t have.”

“This level of control and anxiety around food is how kids end up bingeing at a friend’s house,” an equally concerned parent alarmed.

“Tell her to buy her child a pack of Oreos and shut up,” barked a separate mom. “These group chat sagas are why I would NEVERRR be in a group chat again!!”
