Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson is sharing a message of support for Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell after an on-field injury.
“I said this earlier, but prayers out to Jack Campbell, man, and his family,” Hockenson, 29, told reporters after the Sunday, November 1, game. “I was in on that play. I didn’t see what happened, but that’s an Iowa guy. I know Jack, and I just want to send good vibes to him and his family and his locker room.”
He continued, “We’re competitors, but at the end of the day, we’re on the same team. We put our body on the line every Sunday. So, just good vibes and prayers over to that guy.”
Campbell, 26, went down during the Sunday game at Detroit’s Ford Field after a tackle against Hockenson. He was transported to a local hospital, where he stayed overnight. Campbell’s wife, Meghan, was seen joining him on the field and traveling with him to the hospital via an ambulance.
“Like I said, we do this every single Sunday. We go out there. We know what we signed up for. But you never want to see that,” Hockenson said on Sunday. “You never want to see anyone go down at the end of the day. You don’t ever want to see that. Get down on a knee, say a prayer and hope for the best. God’s got him in his hands. He’s got a plan for him.”
He continued, “You just gotta keep playing unfortunately, and you gotta get back in the mindset of the game goes on. But obviously for him, his family, I know how much that impacts. I’ve been injured. … A lot of prayers and a lot of good vibes from this locker room over to him.”
The Lions ultimately were victorious over the Vikings 19-15. In a post-game press conference, Lions quarterback Jared Goff offered his support to Campbell — who is a father — and his family. (Campbell tied the knot with Megan in 2024, and the pair welcomed their son one year later.)
“Jack’s deal was definitely scary,” Goff, 32, said after the Sunday game. “It just brings you back to reality for a moment that he’s a husband and a father. Scary. We’re praying for him and hope he’s going to be all right. If anyone is tough enough to get through something like that, it’s going to be him.”
