Met Her at a Bar to open in Santa Monica as fans erupt

Santa Monica will soon get a new breakfast and lunch spot as Met Her at a Bar plans to launch an outlet on Main Street.

The café with a neighborhood vibe, serving “authentic Belgian waffles and Colombe coffees,” will open its doors to customers in August this year.

Owners Mindy and Vinny Kinne, a husband-wife duo, launched their first café in 2017, located in Miracle Mile, Los Angeles. The Santa Monica café will be the couple’s fifth restaurant together along with The Night We Met, Met Him at a Bar and Her Thai.

“It’s quite a moment for us. It was always Mindy’s dream to open a café or a small shop for her friends. She found a place, and we risked everything. But in the end, this is just a love story,” Vinny Kinne had told Eater Los Angeles in December last year.

The café in Santa Monica will be designed by Sormeh Rienne, who also styled Her Thai and implemented design upgrades at Met Him at a Bar, reports the news outlet.

At their newest restaurant, the Kinnes, will also serve an updated cocktail menu. On the cafe’s Instagram page, the announcement received mixed reactions from Angelenos. While some welcomed them to the neighborhood, others didn’t seem too thrilled.

“Too bad you didn’t pick a locality that isn’t importing McArthur Park’s fentanyl epicenter. Why not Marina Del Rey? Culver City? Palms? Just anywhere that woke city council can’t get its hands on,” a user commented.

Another user said, “Epic Failure Predicted!!! Have fun losing whatever retard’s money you stole to invest.”

The new location will have an updated cocktails menu.
The cafe in Santa Monica is currently under construction.
Owners Mindy and Vinny Kinne are a husband-wife duo, who launched their first café in 2017.

Ever since their opening days, the couple’s restaurants have consistently drawn packed crowds, a success they attribute to their mutual passion for hospitality.

“I always tell the employees it’s not a hard concept. It’s just like when you have guests over at your house. I just want them to feel like they’re at home with their friends or their family having dinner. That’s the best. I want to emulate that in my restaurant,” said Vinny, in an interview with Eater a few years ago.

The couple has intertwined their entire love story with their business ventures as they actually met at a bar in 2014. They got married in 2019, two years after launching their flagship café at South La Brea Avenue.
