GOOD HOPE, Calif. () — Multiple shipping containers and several vehicles went up in flames early Sunday morning in the Good Hope area of Riverside County, forcing a part of Highway 74 to be shut down.
The fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. in the 23500 block of Highway 74, in Good Hope, according to Cal Fire.
Firefighters shut down parts of the roadway as heavy smoke filled the air. Crews brought in ladder trucks and attacked the blaze from above.
The fire was contained to the property, according to Cal Fire.
No injuries were reported, but crews are expected to remain on scene for several more hours.
The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert, reducing eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 74 to just one lane in each direction while firefighters battled the blaze.
It’s unknown when the highway will fully reopen.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No further details were immediately available.
