Mandy Moore is addressing whether she plans to pick up the microphone again, like her BFF Hilary Duff.
Moore, 42, shot to fame with pop song “Candy” in 1999, before segueing into acting, including her acclaimed role on This Is Us.
In a recent interview with Variety, the actress was asked if she planned to follow in Duff’s footsteps after the Lizzie McGuire star released her first album in over a decade earlier this year and mounted a new world tour.
“I am not the superstar that Hilary is,” Moore told the outlet in the interview published on Saturday, September 5. “I am so proud to watch her absolutely crush it on stage and performing around the country. She is such a role model to so many, myself included.”
Moore continued to gush, “I’m so inspired by what she’s doing because she’s also the best mom in the world and such a good friend. She kind of just does all of it so effortlessly.”
As for a comeback of her own, she said, “I don’t have that canon of hits in the same way, and I’ve never had designs on being a pop star.”
Moore said she would be happy to return to the stage when her children are older. The actress shares sons Gus, 5, and Ozzie, 3, and daughter, Louise, 2, with husband Taylor Goldsmith.
“My husband’s an indie singer-songwriter,” she said. “I want to play theaters across the country and have him in my band and write records with him and friends of mine. I will find my way back to music.”

“I’m not going to have like a confetti cannon. I can’t do that. I can’t pull that off,” she added.
Moore recently revealed that her son, Gus, has discovered “Candy,” her breakthrough hit.
“I don’t know how or why, because I would not play that for him, but now he wants to hear it in the car,” she said in an interview with People earlier this month. “I’ve had to put a moratorium on it. I’m like, ‘Bud, I don’t want to hear it every day.’”
“Hearing it every once in a while is a total fun little bop and stroll down memory lane,” Moore continued. “He’s like, ‘I’m the same age that you were when you made that song.’ I was like, ‘No, you’re 5, but you are closer, probably, to that age than I am to that age.’ It’s pretty funny that he can make that distinction.”
