A man is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old Florida girl after police said the teen bought him food from Burger King.
The man, later identified as Bryan Oyanguren Rosado, is accused of approaching a group of minors, including the 13-year-old, at an apartment complex in Temple Terrace on Monday, March 2, according to an initial news release issued by the Temple Terrace Police Department.
Oyanguren Rosado, 25, asked the group if they could buy him “food from Burger King in exchange for money,” police said.
“Most of the group declined, but one female juvenile consented,” according to police.
Afterward, surveillance footage from a local Burger King captured the 13-year-old visiting the restaurant before police said she returned to the apartment complex in Temple Terrace, which is about a 10-mile drive northeast from Tampa.
Oyanguren Rosado is accused of kidnapping the girl by forcing her into his car after she gave him the food, according to police.
Officers received a call about a missing teen that evening and started searching for her, police said.
When they first arrived at the apartment complex, she was nowhere to be found, according to authorities.
Then, around 9:23 p.m., she returned to the apartment complex and said a suspect, who has been confirmed as Oyanguren Rosado, “forced her into the vehicle, he transported her to an undisclosed location, where he sexually assaulted her before returning her” to an area near the apartment complex.
The girl also told police that Oyanguren Rosado claimed that he was 19, according to authorities.
Two days later, on Tuesday, March 4, Temple Terrace officers found and arrested Oyanguren Rosado on one count of kidnapping and three counts of sexual battery, police said in another news release shared with Us Weekly.
Court records viewed by Us on Friday, March 6, did not indicate whether Oyanguren Rosado had retained an attorney or entered a plea.
Authorities continue to investigate the alleged kidnapping and said additional charges could be brought against Oyanguren Rosado.
“Cases involving children are among the most serious investigations we handle,” Temple Terrace Police Chief Rob Staley said in a statement. “Our detectives worked around the clock over the past several days, and we received an incredible outpouring of tips and assistance from our community. That cooperation was extremely valuable in helping us identify and apprehend this individual.”
