Los Angeles weather: Showers linger Sunday ahead of gradual Southern California warmup

LOS ANGELES () — Southern California will continue to see light rain and cooler temperatures on Sunday before a gradual warmup arrives.

Light-to-moderate showers seen across the region on Saturday will linger into Sunday morning, with on-again, off-again rain possible until the afternoon.

A Wind Advisory was issued for some desert communities, including Indio, where Stagecoach Country Music Festival is taking place this weekend, until 11 a.m. on Sunday. Wind speeds between 25 and 35 mph are expected, plus gusts between 50 mph and 65 mph.

Temperatures are on average about six to 12 degrees below average for this time of year due to the showers.

Then, things will gradually begin to clear out and warm up heading into Monday. By Tuesday, temperatures will jump, but don’t get used to the sunshine. Another round of light showers is possible on Wednesday and Thursday.

Los Angeles and Orange counties on Sunday will see a 50% chance of showers in the morning, with a high of 66 degrees and a low of 54. After a couple of partly sunny days, rain chances return by mid-week.

The valleys and Inland Empire on Sunday can expect a 60% chance of rain in the morning, with a high of 66 degrees and a low of 52. Highs are expected to warm back to the upper-70s by Tuesday.

Beaches on Sunday can expect a high of 66 degrees and a low of 57, with a 50% chance of showers in the morning and a thick marine layer.

Mountain communities on Sunday can expect some showers at the higher elevations, with a high of 41 degrees and a low of 26.

Desert areas on Sunday will be windy, with a high of 62 degrees and a low of 44. Palm Springs is expected to reach 76 degrees.
