SOUTH LOS ANGELES () — A tanker truck carrying bleach overturned Saturday on the 105 Freeway in South Los Angeles, prompting the California Highway Patrol to close all westbound lanes for several hours.
The tanker and another vehicle collided and overturned at 3:42 a.m. Saturday on the westbound freeway just east of Vermont Avenue, according to the CHP.
The semitruck caught fire, the CHP said. It was also leaking liquid.
A SigAlert was issued at 4:14 a.m. for all westbound lanes so the mess could be cleaned up, and Los Angeles Fire Department hazardous materials specialists were called to the scene to assist with the cleaning.
Injuries were not detailed by the CHP in its online log, but the crash was labeled as an injury incident.
An LAFD spokesperson said at least one person was evaluated at the scene but declined to be taken to a hospital.
All westbound lanes reopened around 1:15 p.m.
