Chocolate brown has officially become the color of fall, and Kate Middleton just gave Us another reason to stock up. The rich neutral makes even the simplest sweater feel expensive, especially when layered with other autumnal shades. And naturally, the Princess of Wales just proved exactly how chic it can look.
On September 24, Middleton stepped out in a chocolate brown Ralph Lauren cashmere sweater layered under a houndstooth blazer and paired with pleated trousers and burgundy loafers. The mix of rich brown, berry and heritage-inspired prints gave the entire outfit an effortlessly expensive ‘old money’ feel. While her Ralph Lauren sweater costs $1,617, we found a similar $20 version on Amazon that makes the look much easier to copy.

The Anrabess Crewneck Knit Long Sleeve Sweater has the same classic crewneck silhouette and rich chocolate brown shade that caught our eye in Middleton’s outfit. Made from a soft, stretchy knit with ribbed cuffs, the simple pullover is easy to layer underneath blazers, trench coats and other fall jackets. It also comes in sizes XXS through 3X, along with beige, army green, stripes and several other shades.
More than 1,400 Amazon shoppers have given the sweater a five-star rating, with several comparing its quality to much pricier styles. One reviewer who said they were “so impressed” called it “very similar” to a high-end version, adding that it feels “much thicker and better quality” and is “unbelievably soft and cozy.”
Another shopper called the design “simple and timeless,” adding that it’s “a piece you can wear year after year.” We can see why: pair the chocolate brown shade with dark denim and ankle boots for the weekend, then dress it up with tailored trousers and loafers for an office-ready take on Middleton’s look.
For just $20, this is one fall basic that could easily earn a permanent spot in your sweater rotation. The chocolate brown color gives it that rich, expensive-looking feel while the classic silhouette makes it endlessly versatile. Add a houndstooth blazer and burgundy loafers if you really want to give your fall wardrobe the royal treatment.
