Joe Manganiello offered an update on his dynamic with ex-wife Sofía Vergara two years after settling their divorce.
“I haven’t talked to her since,” Manganiello, 49, succinctly said on the Wednesday, October 14, episode of SiriusXM’s Radio Andy. “I sometimes see pictures of the two of us when we first got together, and it’s heartbreaking when you look at these two people with life ahead of them. But for us, we didn’t know what was ahead.”
Manganiello and Vergara, 54, were married from 2015 until their separation in 2023. Their divorce was settled in 2024.
The True Blood alum revealed in his newly released Bloodlines memoir that he began experiencing symptoms of an unknown autoimmune condition shortly after the pair’s wedding. He also claimed Vergara helped decide to have part of his intestines removed. (Manganiello still has not received a formal diagnosis.)
“I felt guilty, I felt like a burden,” he told radio host Andy Cohen on Wednesday. “I knew that everyone was sick of me, sick of watching me go through this.”
According to Manganiello, Bloodlines wasn’t written solely to address the end of his marriage.

“This book is me telling my story in a way that I tried to be as graceful as possible,” he stated. “I understand that there are things being printed that make it seem like it’s not graceful, taken out of context.”
Manganiello continued, “It gets off message from the message of the book, which is trying to help people out there that are suffering in silence of all of these autoimmune issues and watching their family members struggle and feel like they can’t talk about it or they’re too embarrassed to talk about it or the conversation of generational trauma.”
Vergara, who has not publicly addressed Manganiello’s book revelations, previously claimed their marriage ended over a disagreement about having kids.
“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger,” the Modern Family actress, who shares son Manolo with ex Joe Gonzalez, told El País in January 2024. “He wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom. I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore. I had a son at 19 … and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother.”
Manganiello has refuted Vergara’s claims and moved on with Caitlin O’Connor. They got engaged in 2025.
Bloodlines is out now.
