Jenny McCarthy is sharing her awe and relief over her husband Donnie Wahlberg walking away unhurt when his private plane skidded off a runway in Las Vegas.
“God is so good!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️” McCarthy, 53, replied in response to Wahlberg’s Sunday, October 18, Instagram post about the incident.
On Sunday, Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport released a statement confirming an incident occurred on its runway involving a private plane that was carrying eight people on board. (A temporary ground stoppage was initially ordered at the airport for safety purposes but it was ultimately lifted later on Sunday.)
“At approximately 11 a.m., upon departure, a general aviation aircraft skid off runway 1L at LAS and made contact with the perimeter fence,” Sunday’s social media post read. “There are no known injuries at this time. Runways 1R and 1L will be closed for inspection, and travelers may experience some delays. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.”
The Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed that Wahlberg’s private plane was bound for Toronto Pearson Airport in Canada, where Wahlberg shoots his CBS procedural drama Boston Blue.
Wahlberg, 57, later assured fans that all of the passengers on board — including the pilots — had escaped unscathed after the frightening accident.
“So many of you all are my family too so I figured I’d share with you,” he wrote to fans via Instagram on Sunday. “It was me and my team/friends onboard the aircraft. It was a rather intense few moments.”
He added, “Thankful to God, of course, and to our incredible pilots who did an amazing job of keeping us safe and avoiding a serious disaster. The airplane did take some lumps — but we did not. Thank you to all the emergency personnel on the ground in Las Vegas! You all were absolutely wonderful.”
Wahlberg clarified that the accident occurred when their plane started “taking off and didn’t get up in the air and ran out of runway.” In a stroke of luck, the aircraft was able to avoid “heavy” airport vehicles and equipment as it slid across Harry Reid International Airport’s runway.
“I’m just going to tell you these pilots saved our lives,” he declared. “And God covered us.”
The star continued, “We just finished praying, and I looked out the window and said, ‘We are not getting up in the air today.’ But we’re safe and thankful and all is well.”
The Blue Bloods alum shared a prayer on behalf of his fellow passengers, writing via his Instagram Story, “Heavenly Father, thank you. Thank you for today. Thank you for another opportunity to glorify your name and your kingdom. Thank you for these brave souls [the pilots] and for steadying their hands amidst the chaos.”
He concluded, “Thank you for letting me pray with them and share your love and peace with them. Thank you, Lord, for holding me and my friends’ safety in your loving hands. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!”
Wahlberg was in Las Vegas for the final night of his boy band New Kids on the Block’s The Right Stuff residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM on Saturday, October 17. He subsequently shared a photo via his Instagram Story of himself onboard the private plane, writing, “His love is eternal.”
McCarthy and Wahlberg have been married since 2014. (The former View cohost shares 24-year-old son Evan with ex John Asher and is a stepmom to Wahlberg’s two children — sons Xavier, 33, and Elijah, 25 — from his previous marriage to Kimberly Fey.)
