PERRIS, Calif. () — A high school in Perris is under a shelter-in-place order Friday after a loaded firearm was located on campus, according to the school district’s police.
An investigation at Orange Vista High School at around 10 a.m. led to the recovery of the firearm and the arrest of a student, said the Val Verde District Police Department.
The student was removed from campus following the arrest and will be booked into a Riverside County Juvenile Detention Center, police said. No injuries were reported.

No additional firearms were located after VVDPD’s investigation. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad and their K9 unit also assisted.
There is no immediate threat to students and staff.
This comes just days after a loaded firearm was recovered at that same school in a separate incident. It is unclear whether both incidents are connected.
