A hazardous materials leak from a semi-truck prompted closures on the eastbound 10 Freeway in West Covina, according to authorities.
WEST COVINA, Calif. () — A hazardous materials leak from a semi-truck temporarily prompted a closure of the eastbound 10 Freeway in West Covina Wednesday, according to fire officials.
The West Covina Fire Department and law enforcement personnel responded to the scene of the leak on the eastbound side of the freeway at Pacific Avenue.
Around 7 p.m., authorities said the eastbound 10 Freeway and the Pacific Avenue off-ramp were closed for an undetermined amount of time. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
An hour and a half later, the fire department said the freeway was reopened.
Officials said no businesses or residents were affected by the incident and that the situation remained contained to the immediate area.
At the time of the freeway closure, footage from AIR7 showed heavy traffic backing up near the scene.
