The first look at the Harry Potter TV series is here — and it is giving Us chills with every magical nod to the beloved books and film franchise.
“I told you, you are a normal boy and you’re going to start acting like one,” Harry Potter’s (Dominic McLaughlin) aunt, Petunia Dursley (Bel Powley), says in the first official teaser for the first season of the upcoming HBO show titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Viewers are then transported into the lackluster world in which Harry grew up before learning he is a wizard. He is bullied at school and shoved into his room, located under the stairs at his relatives’ house.
“You think you’re something special? There is nothing special about you,” Petunia tells her nephew while cutting his hair in an aggressive manner.

Harry appears to believe his aunt until a magical letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft arrives addressed to him on his 11th birthday and changes his life forever.
The trailer then flashes fans forward to Harry meeting teacher and eventual friend Hagrid (Nick Frost), who guides him to the infamous Platform 9 ¾ in London, a magical portal to the wizard world.
“Mr. Potter, I think we can expect great things from you,” one professor says after Harry arrives in the hallowed halls of Hogwarts and prepares to discover his fate from the Sorting Hat. “Let’s see who you are.”

Once at Hogwarts, the young boy is seen goofing off with his eventual best friends Ron Weasley (Alastair Stout) and Hermione Granger (Arabella Stanton). Viewers see scenes of Harry getting his special broom ahead of his first Quidditch game and getting dressed in his Gryffindor uniform to participate in the game.
After goofing off with Ron and Hermione, and seemingly being in awe of his new school’s wonder, the scene switches back to the train where the trio first meet.
“Are you really Harry Potter?” Ron asks. Harry simply nods his head, which causes Ron to make a mind-blown gesture with his hand while saying, “Phew!”

The network announced on Wednesday, March 25, that the first season of the show will premiere on Christmas Day in 2026.
The first look at the upcoming series comes nearly 11 years after the final film in the Harry Potter movie franchise hit theaters. The movies, inspired by J.K. Rowling’s hit book series, starred Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter alongside best friends Ron and Hermione, portrayed by Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, respectively in all eight films.
In 2023, HBO announced it was adapting the novels into a TV show. Two years later, casting news began to be announced, first with John Lithgow confirming his participation in the series as the iconic headmaster Albus Dumbledore.
“There is nothing special about Harry Potter — at least that’s what his Aunt Petunia always says,” the official logline reads. “On his 11th birthday, a letter of admittance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry opens up a hidden world for Harry: one of fun, friendship and magic. But with this new adventure comes great risk as Harry is forced to face a dangerous enemy from his past.”
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone premieres on HBO Christmas 2026 and will be available to stream exclusively on HBO Max where it’s available.
