New York City history was made on June 13 after the Knicks took the title of NBA Champions, quenching a 53-year championship drought.
And on Thursday, the City of Dreams will celebrate with its long-awaited ticker-tape parade — maybe the largest the city has ever seen.
Ticker-tape is where massive amounts of confetti are thrown from the windows of skyscrapers. But don’t expect orange and blue, as The Post previously reported, it will be thousands of pounds of tiny white shreds.
In fact, 1.25 tons will be tossed onto the Canyon of Heroes with millions expected to show up and show out for the champs. But the party won’t stop there.
After the parade, Mayor Zohran Mamdani will host another celebration where the New York Knicks team will receive a well-deserved Key to the City at City Hall Plaza.
In typical New York City fashion, eateries across the Big Apple are getting into the game, showing their Knickerbocker spirit with deals and freebies.
The Post put together a list of spots to hit before or after the parade — or during if you need to dodge the crowds. First up, an NYC classic.
Serendipity 3 — UES
The whimsical dessert parlor — known for its over-the-top sundaes and world-famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate — is handing out 50% off desserts when you wear orange and blue.
“If you didn’t spend $50k on Knicks tickets, then get the freakin Knicks Frrrozen Hot Chocolate,” the legendary restaurant teased on Instagram.
The iconic treat is a “velvety-smooth, icy-sweet blend of 14 exotic cocoas,” as described by the spot. It’s served in an monstrous goblet with a heaping of whipped cream and chocolate shavings for $19.95.
This time, customers will spot orange and blue sprinkles with a New York Knicks sticker added.
Serendipity 3 is in the swanky UES at 225 E 60th St, New York, NY 10022.
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream — NY metro stores (NYC, CT, NJ)
Staying on the sweet side, ice cream lovers can snag $3 scoops until 3 p.m. on the day of the parade, celebrating the team’s third championship win.
The sugar rush can be scooped up at all NY metro stores — just note this includes stores at Connecticut and New Jersey.
For those really looking to party with sweetness, be ready to pay up as the chain said additional scoops, flavors and toppings will be full price.
Carvel — NY & NJ
The New York native is toasting the champs with a Small Ticker-Tape Orange Shake across participating New York and New Jersey locations on parade day.
Celebrating the 53-year win, Carvel has cleverly priced the treat at just $1.53.
Shakes are one per customer and mixed with Fanta to give it the Knicks orange we all expect. If you’re looking to satisfy the craving, be sure to call ahead, as not every store will be offering the deal.
I’m donut ? — Times Square
The viral Japanese bakery is famous for its pillowy, ultra-light, nama — raw or fresh — donuts.
The Times Square location will get into the action with a free original nama donut.
“Buy anything at I’m donut ? Times Square and receive one free original nama donut! Available to the first 500 guests from when our store opens at 10 am, while supplies last,” the company wrote on Instagram.
Like most things in life, there are stipulations. It’s one free donut per purchase and first-come, first-served.
The newer bakery came to the heart of Midtown just one year ago and is located at 154 West 45th Street, New York, NY 10036.
East Village Pizza – LES
Grab a slice in the LES for just 53 cents on Thursday from 12-3 p.m. The deal is only on their cheese slices and customers must show the Instagram post at the counter.
Serving up New York’s finest since 1997, East Village Pizza is famous for its 72-hour cold-fermented dough and double-stacked slices. Fans looking to celebrate with a pie, head to 145 1st Ave, New York, NY 10003
Brooklyn Dumpling Shop — online NY locations
The modern, Asian-inspired fast casual spot is dishing up free five-piece Wagyu Dumplings for the NYC area. But there’s a catch — you must head to the app. You’re probably reading this on your phone anyway, so who cares?
This entire week, the shop is offering the freebie on its app, with every order of $10 or more. Just type in the code KNICKSCHAMPS and walk away with your goodies.
Brooklyn Dumpling Shop has spots across the City and abroad.
Dos Toros — online only
The popular taqueria recently extended its offer to commemorate the big win. What originally started during the Finals, the taco joint gave 25% online orders for those using the code KNICKS25 on app or web.
Dos Toros will continue the deal with one redemption per customer and a max order value of $25. “NYC locations only. Only applies to orders place for pickup or delivery with our website or app,” the company said on Instagram.
But hurry and get yours because the fresh deal expires Thursday, after the parade.
Brooklyn Chop House – Downtown
Where Asian meets steakhouse, the downtown staple is famous for the first-of-its-kind deli and diner dumplings. The place has a knack for taking classic American diner and deli staples — think Philly Cheesesteaks, Reubens, Pastrami — and turning that into Chinese dumplings.
The chain also serves high-end steakhouse classics, like a 30-to-45-day dry-aged Porterhouse, NY Strip steaks and bone-in ribeyes.
But starting at noon on Thursday, every reservation will receive a Limited Edition Knicks x Brooklyn Chop House T-Shirt — while supplies last. It’s limited to one shirt per reservation.
“Join us Thursday starting at Noon until 6 p.m. at Brooklyn Chop House Downtown, directly across from City Hall, for the ultimate Knicks celebration right after the parade,” the brand promoted on Instagram.
Knicks fans, just head straight to City Hall and across, you’ll see the restaurant at 150 Nassau St, New York, NY 10038.
Gray’s Papaya — UWS
NYC institution Gray’s has been slinging griddle-fried hot dogs and frothy tropical fruit drinks since 1973. What started as a hot dog stand gave New Yorkers what they needed most — the Recession Special.
Two franks and a medium tropical drink for just $7.50 — mustard, sauerkraut or light onions included. It’s no surprise that the UWS legend is dolling out another deal.
Knicks fans can score free hot dogs — New York’s nectar — following the parade. Gray’s posted on Instagram the details.
“SURPRISE! In celebration of the Knicks ending their 53-year championship drought, we will be giving away 350 hot dogs for FREE following the ticker-tape parade (06/18). More details to come later in the week.”
Just head to the UWS at 2090 Broadway, New York, NY 10023.
Other hotspots to check out: Levain Bakery as all New York locations will hand out a free scoop of ice cream with any purchase throughout the day. Shake Shack lovers can get a free order of crinkle-cut fries with any sandwich purchase, just use the code CLUTCH until June 19.
Gnocchi on 9th in Williamsburg is teaming up with The Truffleist with free Black Truffle Cacio e Pepe Gnocchi topped with fresh shaved black truffles, of course. But get there quickly, as only the first 150 people will score the dish.
Just head to 251 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY, at 2 pm to try and get yours.
