‘GMA’ co-stars Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulous receive stars on Hollywood Walk of Fame

“Good Morning America” co-anchors Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos were honored on Thursday with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Their double ceremony was streamed live and took place on Hollywood Boulevard.

“GMA” co-anchor Michael Strahan, who received his own star in 2023, served as emcee.

Michael J. Fox, Niecy Nash-Betts and Debra OConnell, chairman of Disney Entertainment Television, served as guest speakers for the event.

In her tribute to Roberts, Nash-Betts said, “Somewhere, there is a little Black girl who will see your name on this sidewalk and realize that her dreams are possible.”

“We’re celebrating your courage, your faith, your kindness and the countless lives you have touched,” she continued, speaking to Roberts. “Hollywood may be putting your star on the ground today, but you spent your life showing us how to reach for the sky.”

In his speech, Fox said Stephanopoulos “takes his job very seriously and is proud of the work he gets to do.”

“He loves the people who watch him every day, and I’ve seen him on several occasions have a chat with them and leave them happier than he found them,” Fox added before jokingly nominating Stephanopoulos to run for office during the 2028 election.

“Think about it — it would work, it would work,” Fox said.

Robin Roberts’ wife, Amber Laign, and George Stephanopoulos’ wife, Alexandra Wentworth, were also in attendance.

Following their Walk of Fame ceremony, fans can find Roberts’ and Stephanopoulos’ Walk of Fame stars at 6290 Hollywood Boulevard, near the historic El Capitan Theatre.

Since being named co-anchors of “GMA” in 2009, Roberts and Stephanopoulos have guided viewers through some of the biggest stories in politics, culture and entertainment.

Their work on the broadcast reflects decades of reporting marked by landmark interviews, major breaking news coverage and deeply personal storytelling.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said in a statement. “They have become trusted voices in American journalism, connecting with audiences through their integrity, compassion, and commitment to storytelling.”

Martinez added, “It is a privilege to honor these two extraordinary talents with a double star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, celebrating their remarkable contributions to broadcasting and the lasting impact they have made on viewers across the country.”
