Exclusive | LA influencer stood up on date goes viral after demanding apps be held accountable for suitor bad behavior

She’s standing up to being stood up.

A Los Angeles influencer recently went viral for filming herself waiting for a first date at a restaurant — only for the man to be a no-show — and is now calling for dating apps to be held accountable for their users’ bad behavior.

Paige Davis, whose clip of the demoralizing experience racked up 2 million combined views on TikTok and Instagram, has been flooded with messages from both men and women who sympathized with her.

“I’ve had thousands of people message me and be like, ‘This has happened to me too.’ And that is the most upsetting thing,” she told The Post.

“Is this the new way of letting someone know that you’re not interested in them is having them go and sit at a restaurant and you humiliate them and not show up? That is one of the most cruel things you could do to somebody … truly sick.”

@paigedav91

And there you have it. I got stood up. I’ve gotten so many messages from women saying this has happened to them too, and I genuinely want to understand WHY. Men- Why ask someone out, make plans with her, let her spend time getting ready and traveling there, and then just… not show up? Changing your mind is allowed. Losing interest is allowed. CANCELING IS ALLOWED. Leaving someone sitting there alone with absolutely no explanation is just cruel and inhumane. Can everyone tag @bumble in the comments plz to get their eyes on this??? This is dating in 2026, everybody. I really fucking hate it here. 🫠 #datingstorytime #firstdate #datingtips #singlegirl #storytime

The 35-year-old said the apps themselves should vet their users better to save singles the time and money they waste on delinquent daters — and provide ways for them to submit feedback when they encounter one.

“Someone commented, ‘We rate Uber drivers, why can’t we do that with men we date?’” she said.

“I definitely think that some sort of rating system is not a bad idea, where if you do go on a date with someone, like scale of one to five stars, did this person show up on time? Did this person represent themselves correctly based on their photos?”

Davis’ own dating nightmare began Sept. 20, when she was visiting a friend in Miami and decided to swipe on Bumble. She matched with a “very attractive guy” in his late 30s who worked in finance, and they arranged to meet the following night.

He originally set the date for 8 p.m., and then pushed their meeting to 9 p.m.

She arrived at Casadonna, a waterfront Italian restaurant that he chose, at 8:40 p.m. that Monday night, and by 9, decided to order a drink.

“At 9:07, he texts and says, ‘Hey, I am super close. I’m like a block away,’” she said.

After 10 minutes, he still hadn’t arrived, so she texted him, playfully writing, “I’m about to go on my second drink.”

“At this time, I had ordered a shrimp cocktail cause I was starving,” she explained.

Another 10 minutes went by and he still hadn’t responded to her text about the second drink.

“So I text him again and I’m like, ‘Hey, I’m gonna leave if you’re not close,’” she said.

“So I send that and I have this weird feeling this guy is not showing up. At that moment is when it clicked. So literally 60 seconds after I sent that text, I was like, ‘I’m gonna call him and see if he’s actually coming.’”

The call went straight to voicemail.

Things took a turn after Davis, fighting back tears, left the restaurant — in the rain — and searched the man’s name on Google and made a shocking discovery.

“It’s one of the most cruel things you could do to somebody. Make them get excited, waste their time, spend the money. Go and sit there and be humiliated,” Davis said about being stood up. Courtesy of Paige Davis

“So the photo that he uses for his Bumble is cropped out, it’s just him in the photo. It’s the same photo on his LinkedIn, however it’s the entire photo where there’s someone else in it and it’s a woman,” she said.

“He’s in a tux, and she’s in a formal dress.”

In the viral clip, Davis demands Bumble pay her the over $100 she spent on Ubers there and back and the drink and appetizer she ordered. But after giving it some thought, she realized it was an unrealistic request.

“I was obviously just angry and I just said that,” said Davis, who also went viral in 2024 for using a solo professional glam photo of herself for her holiday cards in hopes of attracting a man.

Davis said she can’t keep up with all the comments on her video, which include one from actress Patricia Arquette, who said, “So rude and so tacky” and another from actress Katherine Narducci, demanding she “Put his pic and number public.”

Others have tried to understand the psychology behind daters who stand people up.

“Someone was like, ‘I had a man who does this explain it to me. They literally need to feel a form of power and control and this is a way that they do it,’ and I like wanted to vomit,” Davis said.
