The most famous red-and-yellow awnings in Miami are coming to Miami Lakes.
El Palacio de los Jugos, the restaurant-and-market that celebrates Cuban food chicharonnes! croquetas! more pork than you’ve ever seen in your life! is opening a new location in Palm Plaza.
The restaurant, which was founded in 1977, is also known for its wide variety of fresh juices among them mango, papaya, guanabana and the ever-popular, mamey and the sweetest of the sweet, sugar cane juice (guarapo).
Mindy McIlroy, president of the commercial real estate firm Terranova Corporation, said Miami Lakes’ rapid growth over the past decade makes the city the perfect spot for the iconic restaurant.
“Its strategic location at the intersection of major roadways, including the Palmetto Expressway and Florida’s Turnpike, adds to its appeal,” she said. “Both the city and Terranova are actively working to attract new businesses, and I believe that there couldn’t be a more fitting location than Miami Lakes for the iconic El Palacio de los Jugos. “
The restaurant was founded in 1977 by Apolonia Bermudez, with its first location on the corner of Flagler and 57th Avenue in Miami. Now run by her son Reinaldo, the brand boasts nine locations in Miami and one in Hialeah, serving Cuban cuisine to eat there or take home.
The new Palacio location is expected to open by the end of 2024.
