Driver in ambulance stolen from Northridge scene leads CHP on chase from San Fernando Valley to Antelope Valley

A driver led law enforcement on a bizarre chase in a stolen ambulance on Friday night. It began in the San Fernando Valley and ended in the Antelope Valley.

AIR7 was live above the chase as the Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance traveled on the 210 Freeway with its lights on and with several police cars following behind.

Authorities said the ambulance was stolen from a scene in Northridge. From AIR7, multiple fire trucks were visible at the Northridge scene, but it’s unclear exactly what type of call brought crews to the location.

Meanwhile, the stolen ambulance continued northbound on the 14 Freeway and into the Agua Dulce area. Eventually, all airships, including AIR7, had to pull off due to heavy fog.

California Highway Patrol said officers eventually deployed a successful spike strip, and the suspect was taken into custody in the Palmdale area.
