DoorDash driver delivers food in Beverly Hills — and reveals how much the wealthy really tip

A YouTuber put Beverly Hills’ famously deep pockets to the test by spending a day delivering food around the ritzy California enclave — and walked away with a whopping $346 after scoring some jaw-dropping tips.

YouTuber iamBrandon headed to the 90210 armed with a delivery bag, a $150 secondhand e-bike and zero previous DoorDash or UberEats delivery experience to see just how much he could rake in serving food to some of Southern California’s wealthiest residents.

His mission was simple: earn enough in a single day to pay for the cheapest hotel room he could find in Beverly Hills that night.

Despite only getting a 14 cent tip on his very first drop-off, the job got more lucrative from there.

Despite only getting a 14 cent tip on his very first drop-off, the job got more lucrative from there. After one grueling delivery took him to an opulent building decked out in white marble, where he was escorted to the elevator by private security, Brandon nervously waited to see whether the upscale surroundings would translate into a generous tip.

It did. “Ladies and gentlemen, I just received a $35 tip,” he exclaimed after receiving the notification. “That’s insane. That’s absolutely crazy.”

But even that was topped by another customer who shelled out an eye-popping $43 tip — for a single bowl of soup. “That literally might be the most expensive bowl of soup of all time,” Brandon said in disbelief.

Brandon documented the entire experiment in a video posted to YouTube.

As he crisscrossed the neighborhood in the e-bike, the rookie deliveryman rode past “Lamborghinis, mega mansions, and some of the world’s most expensive stores,” joking that the number of Mercedes-Benz G-wagons he had to dodge was “absolutely insane.”

But earning a buck in Beverly Hills was far from glamorous. Brandon simultaneously ran DoorDash and Uber Eats in an attempt to maximize his orders, battling steep hills, wrong turns, lengthy restaurant waits and a rapidly deteriorating e-bike. At one point, he said a wrong turn turned what should have been a two-mile trip into a punishing six-mile ride — leaving him around 30 minutes late with a customer’s food.

Brandon simultaneously ran DoorDash and Uber Eats in an attempt to maximize his orders.

Despite being surrounded by staggering wealth, there were stretches when Brandon couldn’t get an order at all. After the lunch rush, he said he waited more than an hour without receiving a single delivery request while watching other drivers continue picking up orders.

He made a final push during the dinner rush before his e-bike finally ran out of juice as the sun began to set. By the end of the experiment, he had pocketed a total of $346 delivering food: $143 on DoorDash, and $203 on Uber Eats.

Exhausted after a “successful” day, Brandon found what he described as the cheapest hotel option around for $310. After surviving his first shift, Brandon teased his next target: Hidden Hills, the ultra-exclusive gated community in the Santa Monica Mountains known for its sprawling estates and celeb residents.
