Don’t hibernate just yet! NYC’s fall street fairs are back — here’s where to find them

Don’t hibernate just yet.

New Yorkers have one more chance to soak up the crisp fall air before the city turns into a freezer.

Street fairs are taking over neighborhoods across the five boroughs this October and November, bringing food vendors, local businesses, shopping, entertainment and prime people-watching to car-free stretches of NYC.

With fairs continuing into November, there’s still time for one last outdoor shopping spree, snack run or leisurely neighborhood stroll before the puffer coats come out.

So skip the pumpkin patch for a weekend and hit the pavement instead.

The Post rounded up 10 NYC street fairs worth checking out this fall before winter sends everyone back indoors.

161st Street Friday Fair — Oct. 16

The Bronx is kicking off the weekend with the 161st Street Friday Fair, an outdoor community street festival and vendor market near Yankee Stadium.

The Oct. 16 fair will bring arts and crafts vendors, food, entertainment and activities to East 161st Street, giving locals a reason to make a pit stop in the neighborhood — even if they’re not headed to a game.

As seen in videos from previous years on social media, there’ll be gyros, empanadas and funnel cakes to fuel a stroll past the vendors, while balloon-twisting clowns offer entertainment for younger fairgoers.

Shoppers can also browse crystals and other merchandise — because what’s a New York street fair without a little food, fun and spiritual cleansing?

When: Friday, Oct. 16, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

Where: East 161st Street, Grand Concourse to Walton Avenue, the Bronx.

Forest Hills Autumn Fair — Oct. 18

Queens is leaning hard into fall with the Forest Hills Autumn Fair, where shoppers can browse arts and crafts, handmade treasures, antiques, collectibles and other unique wares.

Like last year’s fair, there will also be food vendors, children’s rides, live music, games and activities, making it an easy Sunday outing for anyone not ready to surrender to sweater weather just yet.

The event listing also highlights the fair’s mix of local shopping and family-friendly entertainment.

Expect Queens-themed artwork, fresh Italian sausage, lobster rolls and handmade artisan totes, along with thrifted graphic tees and other one-of-a-kind finds. With both shopping and kid-friendly entertainment, it’s a chance to turn a routine neighborhood stroll into a full afternoon out.

When: Sunday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: 71st/Continental Avenue, Queens Boulevard to Austin Street, Forest Hills, Queens

NYC’s beloved street fairs bring neighborhoods to life each fall, including the annual Forest Hills Autumn Fair in Queens, which draws locals out for a day of food, shopping and festivities.

Upper Broadway Harvest Fair — Oct. 25

Broadway gets a harvest-season makeover for the 31st annual Upper Broadway Harvest Fair.

Come hungry and ready to shop as vendors take over the Upper West Side with food, crafts, merchandise and more.

As shown in clips from the past few years, this fair is always a little bit of everything: handmade crafts and local treasures, collectibles and quirky finds, live music, street-fair food and rides to keep the kids busy.

The long-running neighborhood tradition is also a good excuse to wander around Manhattan Valley and soak up some fall scenery while you’re at it.

When: Sunday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Where: Broadway, W. 96th to W. 106th streets, Manhattan

Autumn comes alive on the Upper West Side at the annual Upper Broadway Harvest Festival, a neighborhood street fair celebrating the season with local vendors, food and fall festivities.

Court Street Spectacular — Oct. 25

Brooklyn is going out with a bang: The Court Street Spectacular is billed as the borough’s “last big street fair of 2026.”

For most of the day on Oct. 25, Court Street will fill with merchants, local skincare and homeware vendors, fried Oreos and kid-friendly amusement rides.

That means parents can browse neighborhood shops and grab a bite while younger fairgoers get their own dose of entertainment.

The free, all-ages annual fair runs between Atlantic Avenue and Joralemon Street, through the heart of the Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill area. It’s an easy excuse to browse the neighborhood before Halloween — and perhaps reward yourself with a post-fair bite.

When: Sunday, Oct. 25, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

Where: Court Street, Atlantic Avenue to Joralemon Street, Brooklyn.

Fulton Mall/MetroTech Series Fair — Nov. 4

Think of this one as a fall shopping spree with a Downtown Brooklyn backdrop.

The Fulton Mall/MetroTech Series Fair takes over Lawrence Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with handmade goods, vintage trinkets, collectibles and local merchandise on offer.

There will also be food and live music, making this weekday fair a convenient excuse to break up the workweek with some browsing.

When: Wednesday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

Where: Lawrence St., Fulton St. to Willoughby St., Downtown Brooklyn

Midtown West Fair — Nov. 7

Take a stroll down Eighth Avenue without having to dodge quite so many cars at the Midtown West Fair, which stretches eight blocks through one of the city’s busiest corridors.

Browse food and merchandise vendors before making a day of it in Hell’s Kitchen and the Theatre District, with Broadway theaters, restaurants and bars all within walking distance.

Because apparently the best way to recover from Times Square chaos is with a street-fair snack.

When: Saturday, Nov. 7.

Where: Eighth Ave., W. 42nd to W. 50th streets, Manhattan

Manhattan’s Eighth Avenue gets a seasonal shopping makeover at the Midtown West Fair, where street-fair staples meet eye-catching finds — including stunning jewelry — along the bustling avenue.

Union Square Autumn Fair — Nov. 8

The Union Square Autumn Fair is the perfect excuse to spend a Sunday downtown — and pretend you’re holiday shopping for everyone on your list when you’re really shopping for yourself.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., browse annual vendors along 17th Street selling everything from mini pumpkins and fresh fruit to Latin American barbecue and cozy fall sweaters. Then wander through Union Square’s surrounding shops, restaurants and famous Greenmarket.

The free fair runs rain or shine, so don’t let a little November drizzle rain on your shopping parade.

Where: 17th St., Broadway to Park Ave. South, Manhattan

Veterans Day Festival — Nov. 11

Celebrate Veterans Day in Lower Manhattan at this free street festival, where food vendors and market stalls line Broadway from Liberty Street to Battery Place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The festivities coincide with NYC’s annual Veterans Day Parade, which marches up Fifth Avenue from 26th Street toward Midtown, typically ending between 47th and 50th streets.

After browsing the festival, keep the downtown adventure going with a stroll through the Financial District or along the waterfront at The Battery.

When: Wednesday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

Where: Broadway, Liberty St. to Battery Place, Lower Manhattan

From smoky barbecue and Latin American bites to classic street-fair treats, NYC’s fall festivals are serving up plenty of delicious reasons to hit the pavement before the Big Apple turns chilly — including the upcoming Veterans Day Festival. Meteor Festivals

Financial Community Fall Fair — Nov. 12

The Financial District gets its own fall street-fair moment with the Financial Community Fall Fair on Park Place.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., browse snack and clothing vendors while taking in the neighborhood’s unmistakable skyscraper backdrop.

It’s a particularly easy midday outing for downtown workers — or anyone looking for an excuse to play hooky from the office for a little seasonal shopping.

When: Thursday, Nov. 12, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

Where: Park Place, Broadway to Church St., Lower Manhattan

From artisan jewelry and unique finds to quick bites, Mardi Gras Productions organizes many of NYC’s outdoor street fairs, block parties and community festivals — including the upcoming Financial Community Fall Fair.

Thanksgiving Celebration — Nov. 15

Give thanks for one more excuse to be outside before the Big Apple turns into a freezer.

This free late-season street fair takes over Sixth Avenue from 23rd to 34th streets, with food and merchandise vendors lining the route through Chelsea, Flatiron and NoMad.

Running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., it’s a final chance to get your outdoor shopping and snacking fix before winter really sets in — and a good excuse to stroll the neighborhood while you still can without three layers of clothing.

When: Sunday, Nov. 15, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

Where: Sixth Ave., W. 23rd to W. 34th streets, Manhattan

As the sweltering summer heat gives way to crisp autumn air, Gothamites can finally enjoy one of NYC’s favorite seasonal pastimes: strolling outdoor street fairs and sampling tasty treats without breaking a sweat. berezko – stock.adobe.com

Soak it up while you can

The countdown to winter may be on, but New Yorkers aren’t hibernating just yet.

Whether you’re hunting for handmade goods, grabbing a street-fair snack or simply looking for an excuse to wander a different neighborhood, these fairs offer one more reason to get outside before the gloves, scarves and SAD lamps take over.

After all, in The City That Never Sleeps, you don’t need much of an excuse to eat something delicious on a closed-off street.
