Disneyland fans furious after park quietly raised prices on over 800 foods and drinks

Disneyland fans furious after park quietly raised prices on over 800 foods and drinks

And, poof — there goes your Disney dining budget.

The most magical place in California is raising its prices on its already expensive food and drink. At Disneyland, more than 800 menu items have quietly increased in price across 178 dining locations in both parks and resort hotels.

With an average increase of 8%, popular staples such as churros, funnel cakes, Mickey beignets, and Dasani water are all getting more expensive.

Some of the steepest hikes hit the bean & cheese burrito and wedge salad, each rose by more than $3.

The Quick service food was hit the hardest with a median price increase of $1, while the cocktails and other bar items rose consistently by $1 to $2.

The increases add another expense to an already costly day at the parks.

The latest food hike follows a recent $18 increase to the price of select admission tickets in early October.

While Disney could point to inflation as a factor, its price increases have historically far outpaced the broader inflation rate. Ticket prices and add-ons have often risen at roughly two to three times the pave of overall inflation.

That growing gap has sparked frustration online. One X user declared that “America is doomed,” while another said, “Disney should be ashamed of themselves.”

Some fans are already looking for cheaper alternatives. “There’s a Blaze Pizza across the street,” one person wrote, while another said the prices had reached “the point of packing lunches again.”

The frustration becomes clearer when compared with prices from just a decade ago.

In 2015, a one-day ticket cost $99, while a quick-service meal basket typically ran between $10 and $13.

Yet the real magic may be Disney’s ability to maintain such a devoted fan base despite the yearly pricing increases.

Year over year, Disneyland food prices typically rise by 5% to 8% annually. Those increases can arrive suddenly, affecting hundreds of menu items at once.

Some users in Reddit’s Disney-planning community say they “keep paying more and more” while “getting less and less.”   That “extra magical inflation” is pushing some Disney fans towards cheaper, more convenient alternatives outside the parks.

Food Network personality Andrew Gruel also voiced his preference for competitors, saying his family stopped visiting Disney years ago. “Legoland is much better,” he wrote, praising its “good food” and more affordable prices.

The criticism comes as Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park tied for last place in a recent ranking of the most affordable theme parks in the US.

There’s a small bright spot for budget-conscious visitors. Disneyland recently launched a limited summer promotion offering $59 evening tickets for entry at either park after 4 p.m. between July 12th and August 5th.

The discount arrives as attendance slipped 1% from the previous year, with lighter daytime crowds and slower seasonal demands.

Still, Disney’s experience division remains a financial success. Since the beginning of the 2026 fiscal year, it has generated approximately $13.91 billion in revenue and is on track to hit $40 billion for the year.

The latest increase may make summer visits harder to justify, but the company is betting that discounted entry offers and the promise of its signature experience will keep guests coming back despite the growing cost.
