‘Devil Wears Prada’ costume surfaces on resale site — for $10k

‘Devil Wears Prada’ costume surfaces on resale site — for k

Someone must have fallen down and smacked their little head on the pavement.

That’s the only explanation for parting with a Chanel jacket from 2005 — the same design worn by Anne Hathaway in the ultimate fashion rom-com, 2006’s “The Devil Wears Prada.”

The jacket was created by the brand’s late creative director Karl Lagerfeld, and scored by stylist Patricia Field (who also created Carrie Bradshaw’s indelible “Sex and the City” outfits) during the film’s hectic production schedule.

But this week, it surfaced on the popular resale site TheRealReal — for just over $10,000.

Made from French-milled cotton and piped with silver- and gold-threaded trim, the nautical-style blazer is part of the famous “DWP” makeover montage where Hathaway startles Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt — and even supermodel Gisele — with her “gimme those boots” glow-up.

The jacket represents a triumph for both Hathaway’s character Andy Sachs and Patricia Field’s hard-working wardrobe department, which had to scramble for runway-worthy pieces for Hathaway and Blunt.

Today, that seems insane.

At the time, it was just good sense, as many European designers — and their notoriously strict publicists — were scared to lend clothes to the movie. They feared offending Vogue empress Anna Wintour, on whom the movie was famously based.

“They thought it was a sensitive political issue,” Field told The Post at the time. “But it didn’t matter,” since Anne Hathaway was such a hot star, and Lagerfeld sensed the film would be good for everyone.

Wintour, too, came around, wearing her own Prada dress to the movie’s New York premiere.

The film was a massive hit, landing $326.6 million in box-office revenue and elevating both Hathaway and Blunt to Hollywood’s A-list. It also taught a generation of viewers how to spell “Gabanna.”

The hotly anticipated sequel to the Y2K sensation dropped in May — bringing in over $693 million at the box office. (That’s over 105,000 Prada bags).

Want to wear this “Devil”-ish Chanel?

Currently, you’ve got a few RealReal options.

Besides the $10k version, available in a slim size 36 (which translates to a size 2 in America), there are now two larger iterations in a size 42 (just over $8,400) and a size 48 (roughly $9,500) available for purchase, ensuring curvier luxury fans can also channel the film’s fantasy style.

They each feature Chanel’s signature gold-stamped buttons, woven wool fabric and Chanel logo badges bearing the house’s lucky number cinq, or five.

All three jackets come in black…not cerulean. Phew.
