It’s predicted to be another summer of travel chaos.
But thankfully, Delta Airlines, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), recently launched a website called Delta Pilots Care, where they will warn passengers of potential delays and cancellations amid summer travel.
“We have been working on our days off in record numbers to help you get to your destination,” the website read. ”We empathize and share in your frustration over the delays, cancellations, and disrupted travel plans you experienced. We agree; it is unacceptable. ”
The ALPA dropped the site as airlines gear up for a high summer travel period, hoping to get ahead of any customer frustration toward Delta, according to Airline Geeks.
“As frontline leaders, our pilots see the operation from a unique, up-close perspective”, said Captain Eric Criswell, Chairman of the Delta MEC.
The new website is said to be updated throughout the summer with additional tips and guidance.
The pilots also added a section called the “smart traveler playbook” with recommendations on how to make your airport trip a smooth ride. It also has several helpful links to resources such as knowing your rights at the gate and FAA guidance.
In addition, the site will have handy recommendations to ensure customers skip the chaos, including tips and tricks like booking the first flight of the day, using the Fly Delta app, and enrolling in some pretty pricey programs.
It’s been a busy week for the airline giant as it also just launched its “Basic fares” for first class and business class. The move is an economy seat with a few extra perks that typically only Delta First, Delta Premium Select and Delta One flyers experience.
Similar to Delta Main and Delta Comfort, the Basic tier gives customers premium extras like Zone 1 boarding, lie-flat seats, three-course meals and more.
It comes with some drawbacks, though.
Basic fare flyers still do not have access to the Delta Sky Clubs as they’ll need to have a Delta Sky Club membership or an eligible credit card. Plus, passengers will earn fewer frequent flyer miles and will not be eligible for complimentary upgrades.
“This expansion gives customers more ways to choose the Delta experience that best fits their trip, and a new way to access our premium tier products,” said Joe Esposito, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, in a press release.
