ANAHEIM, California (W) — Disney used D23 to unveil some of its biggest franchise plans for the next several years, headlined by Marvel’s long-awaited X-Men cast reveal, major updates on Avengers: Doomsday and Star Wars: Starfighter, and a slate of new animated films.
After years of speculation, Marvel officially introduced its X-Men lineup, with Sadie Sink cast as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister. The film is set for release on May 5, 2028.
Marvel also previewed Avengers: Doomsday, bringing Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell together on stage, while Hugh Jackman made an appearance.
On the Star Wars front, Ryan Gosling unveiled Star Wars: Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy and scheduled for Memorial Day weekend 2027. Disney also announced Season 2 of Ahsoka will begin streaming Jan. 20 on Disney+.
Disney Animation rounded out the showcase with updates on Frozen 3, Incredibles 3, Tangled, Coco 2 and Zootopia 3, giving fans a preview of what’s coming through the end of the decade.
